Default What are the mechanics around IP exemptions?

Are they between accounts, is it global, or a mixture of both? For example, if a party received IP exemptions for account X and account Y and later want an IP exemption for account Z, do they: A. submit a petition for account Z to be added to Accounts X & Y or B. submit two petitions for Z + X and then Z + Y?

What if in the past an IP exemption was granted for Z + W, are the mechanics working where both Z and W can be linked to X and Y?

Back when account trading was legal (several years ago), my roommate and I traded for let's say account Z and I asked for an IP exemption for X + Z which was granted. He missed the batch and had to wait a month or so to get an IP exemption for Y + Z. By accident (we swap in and out of accounts a lot and /q out for a quicker connection), we were preparing for a brief pause from the server saying, "you have a character in game and must wait", but kept spamming anyway and noticed that account Y was able to load with account Z so we were pretty confused. With the fear of mistakenly getting banned, we waited until the second IP exemption was granted before we played on both accounts. One thing we still benefited from was the ability to /q out of Y and log into Z instantaneously while we waited for the second IP exemption.

At the time, we just assumed IP exemptions were global until we tried the quick load trick with a fourth account W and Y (that we assumed had this global IP exemption), but got the "you have a character in game and must wait". What made it more confusing was that the quick load trick worked for accounts W and X, so we guessed that maybe account X had a global IP exemption, but account Y didn't? Anyways we stopped caring after a while, but I always wondered this.

Sorry for all the W, X, Y, and Z's [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

If you submitted your original IP exemption request for accounts X and Y, then only one of those would have received the exemption.

If you have another player that wants to play at your house, do another petition and identify all the accounts that would be playing at the same time. They can easily see which ones have the flag already.
