![]() Coming back to EQ after about a 10 year break, and was hoping for some info. I'm debating between enchanter or a druid, any suggestions or guides for the 2 classes?

![]() I had the same dilemma when I started. Ended up going with enchanter. Glad I did, although I'm thinking of rolling a druid alt now.
Once you get a taste for the destruction that is enchanter charm soloing, it's hard to solo as another class again. Quad kiting on a druid looks fun, but taking mobs two at a time with little mana loss as a chanter is very fun and effective. And you can dungeon crawl solo as well if you're feeling frisky. Plus enchanters are always wanted in groups too. And they can compliment pretty much any other class in a duo/trio situation. Not to take away from druid at all, because I think they're awesome too, especially as a first char. Soloing, porting, grouping until higher levels, etc.

![]() For enchanter?
Always seems to be a toss up between high elf for stats, and dark elf for the hide ability. Which can be used to break charm for soloing. I went dark elf, and I would do it again if I made another enchanter. I use hide regularly. The skill itself maxes out pretty low, and I've found it works maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of the time. But it's been on my hotbar since day one. Sometimes for breaking charm, sometimes just to hide and med up. You can always use illusions to be whatever race you want. But you won't get the abilities with that. You can always get more gear to raise your stats as well. So my vote is always Dark Elf.

![]() As someone who played a druid main on live and also leveled one here to 35 (mostly for ports) I think I would go enchanter. I do love the flexibility and mobility of druids but I have made a point of trying new classes on P99 that I didn't experience on live. Enchanter being one of them. I have a chanter to 37 and it's a lot of fun.
I don't even play the chanter like most do (I'm not a huge fan of charming unless the group/duo is focused around doing that) but doing challenging dungeons and performing CC to keep things under control is quite fun and a departure from the gameplay of most other MMO classes. If you do go chanter I would highly advise looking into a program called GINA so you can manage buff timers better. Being a master of your buff/mezz timers will make you a much better chanter and people in your group will love you when they don't ever have to ask for haste or clarity because you refresh things before they ever expire (especially true for haste since it's such a short duration). It also allows you to stagger buffs in a more mana efficient manner that frees up mana/time for more important things like mezz or charm. No more wasting mana to cast haste on yourself just to set a timer for the 2 melee in your group.
