Default Looking to spark the nostalgia... Is it possible?

I'm really wanting to play EQ again to help spark ideas with my novel and I'm really hoping this project can help. I made a character in 2009 and played briefly on the server, but I had no friends in game to keep me playing. So, I come to you all asking truthfully, do you think there are a decent amount of people that play actively that can help me do this? Or are the zones dead and the beginners are doomed to solo??

I will play EQ2 if necessary, but this project shows promise and I'm hoping it can help me write my book. Also, it would be great to make new friends [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Thoughts?

If you're on the Freeport side of things (and even sometimes in Qeynos/Blackburrow), you'll always run into people who are grouping.

Plenty of Upper Guk/Unrest/Crushbone/Oasis groups going all the time.

We have had a peak of almost 1000 players on at one time, average of about 700 now, and Kunark just around the corner, which will bring more.

I'm sure you will do great here, and good luck!

Crushbone is frequently packed. Toxx and Steamfont are pretty much dead, but that's classic. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

You'll have no problems finding people to play with!

If you only ever played live later than 2002, then this game will seem like a brand new experience to you. It will be difficult to the beginner, but when you are a true beginner to MMOs, and classic EQ is the first one you really let hook you... then you will have volumes of scenarios fit for a novel.

The key part is that you have to let yourself become immersed; this is the only way the world holds wonder. When that wonder is brand new...

Well. That's what all of us here have been trying to relive for a decade. This is the best possible version I have played outside of those first three years in live, `99-`01.

you will have little to no problems grouping if you are a non-soloing class. sometimes you may have to find your own groups but if you put the time in you will be able to find people to play with.

What are you planned regular playing times? That will definitely help in determining how easily it will be to find a group ranging from too many people in a zone, or not enough people in a zone.

More so in the evenings I would say. I work and attend a university full time, so I would be getting on around 10ish on weekdays possibly.. or earlier if I'm off work. On the weekends it's the same thing.. Either in the AM when I work at night or visa versa (CST that is)

I think someone commented on it earlier, but stick to the bigger zones, FP area is bigger than most, EC/NRO/OASIS etc etc. Secondly, something that has to be said, be proactive, I find alot of people *myself included* are less inclined to throw something together, if they see someone else throwing something together they will join. Send tells, be intrusive, look up people your level and just send them a tell, you cant be shy and hope people come to you in this game, you have to just dive in and go for it. Hopefully this helps you some, I know for the people who play a little bit later, its rougher because of less people on, but for the most part, i get tells nightly for groups from people I dont know just because they are trying to throw something together, you just have to stick with it, and be a little more ascertive.

*edit* I sound like caesar millan, BE TEH PACK LEADER!!!
