Default Trueshot & Archery DPS calcs

When is it advisable to use Trueshot over melee 55+? Any particular fights or zones?

Also, how do you calculate Archery DPS under Trueshot in a way that it could be compared to your melee DPS? Just to know that with such-and-such weapons it indeed should be better?

With any DN bow (preferably the best you can get) + high damage arrows + a non-moving mob where geometry and LoS isn't an issue, Trueshot disc should always do some pretty impressive damage.

Yelinak, for example, was made for Trueshot. There's several other mobs you could also use it effectively on, but he was always the best.

Ive never seen my bow damage beat duel wield damage even with disc. Any particular fight? Any mob with an aoe you dont have the proper resists for would be good if you lack healers. As far as calculating archery dps you could parse or just use the bow damage+arrow damage +dmg bonus per-level if you are looking at on-paper figures.

No, Yelinak would not be a good option to use trueshot on because he's rooted in place and you won't get the double damage bonus...cutting your DPS in half.

If that's a mistake that it's coded that way for server rooted mobs i'm not sure because I can't remember from live, but that's the way it works now.

For stuff with a large melee circle put your fire beetle eye in the primary slot and you can toggle auto attack between bow shots to swing your off hand.

Don't forget to add in spells. You can help out a lot with some casts of nukes between bowshots.

Also, if you have the melee bow....then you get best of both worlds. Double attack bow hits with off hand, that gets all the normal bow bonuses.

I knew you could kick+bow stuff with large hurtboxes, but this is news to me. This is a very interesting mechanic. This should work on a lot of dragon monsters and possibly some other bosses as well. Would be interested in seeing parses of this technique if anyone has any available.

That's different from live then.
Yeli was always rooted, but we used to get the double damage bonus.

Haven't fought him on this server, though, so I'll take your word for it.

I think you confuse trushot double damage with level 51+ double damage, only the latter needs non rooted stationary targets..

Correct, but IIRC they stack.
