![]() I'm new to EQ but not to MMORPG's. It would be nice if there was someone around the ogre town that would be willing to come party up with me or even a group. Let me know if that would be possible and when. I'll be online all night.

![]() If you turn on anonymous (Anon) your level won't show in any /who commands, so no one will know whether you're a good group choice.

![]() Just be aware that EQ-classic is a LOT slower progression wise than most MMOs (unless you've been playing hardcore korean MMOs).
Ogre warrior will eventually be a great combination for you, especially if you're looking to end-game. For now a beginning character it could be a bit difficult, but don't let that discourage you. Your best bet will be to get to East Commonlands (this zone is used as the main trading zone, where people go to buy/sell items to other players so is heavily populated with higher levels generally). Try to get a bind in freeport so you don't have to run as far when you die (the spot you go to when you die is called your 'bind' spot, casters and priests can bind non-casters inside city areas at levels 12 and 14 respectively). Then beg buffs&solo till around level 8 (chances are decent someone would be willing to give you a better weapon and maybe some pp to get you started if you ask nicely, but don't beg). Groups there aren't terribly uncommon for the low levels, I think people will also group in the West Commonlands untill 11-12ish, where you can go to the Oasis of Marr until the mid-late teens. At which point, with Kunark being available, many people will be heading to the Lake of Ill Omen. http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Players:Newbie This explains some stuff that'll be useful to you.

![]() Quote:
Honestly, for a new player, I'd be EXTREMELY hesitant to reccomend anything other than a strong solo class like necro or mage. Grouping classes (cleric, enchanter, tanks, rogues are the biggest ones) will require a HUGE amount of patience to level up. And groups are "not uncommon" at low levels, but they are pretty hard to come by once you get up in the 40+ area, ESPECIALLY if you play in off-hours. And soloing for these classes tends to be pretty painful (and slow), especially for someone not familiar with EQ.

![]() if you dont play in EST evenings then either find a friend to play with or perhaps choose someone who can also solo. groups are hard to come by otherwise.
