Default Race detail

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting so first let me say that this is so freaking awesome that Project 1999 is here, I just discovered it and I've been waiting for this for 10 years! haha... Thank you so much to everyone involved!! I love you, WE love you, from the bottom of our 90's EQ starved and sentimentally nostalgia ridden hearts, and you know it!

Anyway... I was just curious, does anyone know if there's a way to get some of the graphics from Planes of Power involved here? Can you get the character detail and smoothness on any of the races? I notice that it's already there for the Vah Shir and the Froglok, but can you choose to have it that way for any other races? Please note... I am aware that the whole point of P99 is to keep it classic and all and that's why I love it of coarse; I love the oh so fond blockiness of the original character graphics as much or more as the next guy here but I think maybe it'd be cool to be able to choose which/if races have the graphic detail and smoothness. Maybe this is asking too much, I don't know.

If there isn't a way, yay that's cool... just curious.

Thank you!

You pretty much cannot have luclin character models.

I believe if you use the SoF client (not recommended, does this still even work?) you can use luclin models, with all the great perks of running a buggy client that randomly adds character strings to item links, and not being able to jump off plane of sky to name a few!

superstar what you are refering to are not Planes of Power models but are Luclin Models (3rd expansion, Dec 2001). This server purposefully turns off those models for the sake of classicness , and most models did look better old school (Iksar is the only one I feel new model looked better).

There are ways to enable them, but they mess up other aspects of the game (introduce bugs etc..).

I was curious about this too, I was sure they had that option before Luclin but I guess not. I remember when I first started playing was when Luclin was out and even though I had the game I didn't install it for a few months, and thought I had the option to change the models then, but oh well if not. The thing is it is pretty painful to look at the iksar as he is now lol, not to mention the trolls and ogres (although I kinda like the look of the old troll better than the updated one hehe).

Thanks for the great server p99!! Really enjoy playing here!

yeah, although you will get used to the graphics [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] They didnt look stellar by 99 standards either... Half Life came out in 98.

But people got used to the models, and you could say, fell in love with them [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
