Default /ooc fix

Ghesta brought this up in another thread, and I'm afraid a great idea is going to get buried in RnF drama, so I'm reposting this.

I dunno why nobody said this sooner, it's a rule pervasive throughout many mmo's and online games, and it has been shown to be a simple and effective way to filter idiocy.

This is a great idea, and I fully support it. I think if many people also support it, we may be able to get GM staff support. Please post your thoughts.

While this would eliminate some problems, I don't think its a great idea. I have a level 8 druid and a level 10 cleric. I have played for hours and hours. I can't participate in some discussions?

Generally I keep to myself, unless I answer someones questions. Which brings another point. Its a great place for newbs to ask questions. Although they can use shout probably.

I support this. Except what about newbies that have legit questions?

I'm level 12 (almost 13 when I get back around to levelling vs. exploring and questing). I actually support this idea (although it doesn't effect me either way - I keep OOC off).

But the best solution IMO is to go back to the classic per-zone OOC. If not now, maybe around when we hit 1000 users or so.

fwiw, if you haven't tried playing with OOC turned off, even for a little while, you should. It is amazing how much more classic feeling it is without the constant (non-classic quantity) OOC spam.

I agree, and disagree...

Jeebus makes a good point. I, myself am currently under level 20. In all cases when I do /ooc its game related, and it is a legit question to be asked. Being level 20+ doesn't mean the player behind the character will be "less idiotic". Idiotic issues, such as drama, "He said She said" arguements are caused by people of all levels, shapes, and sizes. In most cases higher level people (usually in high end guilds) are the cause for most drama or game related arguements.

I don't know, just my opinion :P

Maybe not lvl 20, but level 10 or so would be great. In the mean time, a simple extra channel (/advice) channel can be put in for the people under 10 who need help / have questions.

I for one am tired of the faggit who spams ooc with the paragraph sex story, atleast let him spam /advice so i can turn it off and not miss out on the great fun of OOC
