Unhappy Cannot make notepad changes??wtf

hey im trying to setup eqemu on my brothers computer, it wont allow me to chance the target in properties to hookup to the emu server and also will now allow me to change any of the notepad documents in eq. I thought maybe the user setting were on so that you couldnt make changes to program files. So i switched them so you could. It still wont allow me to make any changes. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is the document not opening in notepad for some reason?

Right click on the file and go to "open with". If you don't see notepad as an option, click "choose program". If you don't see it there, then click the "browse" button. Browse to C:\windows\system32\notepad.exe.

Is this your problem or is it something else?

I had this problem, it's a stupid security thingy.
If I recall correctly,
you right click the files, go properties, then go under the security tab and edit permissions to allow access and such.
You should then finally have control over your pc!

Running Windows XP or Windows Vista/7? It very well could be a permissions issue as Maurk stated. If so, you may need to take ownership of the EQ folder by right clicking the EQ folder and selecting Properties. Then go under the Security tab and click the Advanced button at the bottom. Then go to the Owner tab. Select the user name you're logged in as and check the box at the bottom. Once you hit OK, it will go through and make you the owner. Then you need to add the user to the list of "Groups and Users" of the security tab and select Full Control in the lower portion of the screen.

After that, you should have full access to modify the files and folders beneath

Or just don't install into the Program Files folder.
