This quest is supposed to give a number of large postitive faction hits possibly undoing a lot of the damage done by the quest "The Bridge" for the Deep Six Cutlass. Instead it gave no faction hits, just the level 9 shaman spell "Tainted Breath".
Per the wiki: "Faction improvements seem to be for several Gnome factions in Ak'Anon (Eldritch Collective (the caster guild?), Gem Choppers, King Ak'Anon and the Merchants Of Ak'Anon), as well as negative hits for The Dead and Dark Reflection. The adjustment was at least large enough to move the character from Apprehensive to Indifferent with one turn-in (although the character had never done anything else to change their Ak'Anon factions, I did cast Alliance on him and was still Apprehensive before the turn-in)."
