Default New player here wanting to play a support class.

I want to be able to do stuff alone, but when I'm in a group I really want to be all about helping the team. I'm mostly considering necromancer or shaman. Will I be able to do what I want as one of those classes? Why should I play one over the other? (other class suggestions are also welcome) [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Groups might be easier to find as a shamy for utility slow, buffs, and heals. Down time grind bolth are good all on what you prefer. Having sow deff helps when traveling! Does seam necro may be faster solo grinding. They do have some faction issues, but thats just from my grinds. A barb shamy if you can get past first few lvls in starting area a little tuff, but then seams a better options for bank / shopping. Just from my what I have noticed over the years. Never realy embraced the dark side trying it now and having to watch which faction hits I get so dont limit my banking lol.

Necromancer and Shaman are also popular solo classes.

If you want to be a really supporty class, be a cleric.

Define support. Gustoo said cleric is a support class but I'd consider it a main heal class. Shaman, bard, and enchanter are the ultimate support classes here IMO, but necro definitely fits the role in groups. You'll get many more group invites as a sham/bard/chanter than a necro though.

Maybe I am just dumb as far as what support means and OP is fully correct.

I would also suggest Shaman, what server will you be playing on?
Shamans are great in a group and can solo, or even better duo really well.

I'mma echo the majority vote here and say Shaman. I have been playing my shammy since green launch and love him. In early levels you can play ANY group role- main tank, healer, or use dot's to DPS, or just focus on buffing/debuffing. You can also solo whenever you want. Melee early, root-rot in late teens to early 30's, and once you get your pet all sorts of options open up.

I like to say that shamans are the "bards" of casters- they really can do a bit of everything. And every group, even ones that already have a shaman, will welcome you.

Probably green because it is the biggest... IDK, I'm a total noob to both p1999 and Everquest. I'm only 19 years old XD

Sounds cool! But so does bard now that I look into them LOL. How to decide between the two?

Shaman's are a great solo class, as well very sort after in duo/trio/group content, in higher levels. Where necros will solo/duo more at higher levels.
