How do I exit Paineel?

I created an Erudite ShadowKnight and I'm stuck inside of Paineel. I understand there's a guard that gives a key, but that guard is located outside of Paineel in the newbie area. Who do I need to speak with inside of the city to get a key?

To clarify: I did spawned into the game without a key. I've hailed all the guards I could find and asked them for "keyz" but none of them have any. Is there another way for a lvl 1 erudite to exit paineel?

Edit ::: OOOH -- someone had killed all of the guards near the lift. Those guards that spawned give keys. Nvm
