Question What class next

Been kickin around a bunch of toons with some pretty good twink gear, and wondering if anything will compete with my other toons.

First toon was Shaman, blasted to 60 in a few months without having to meditate via bind wound and cannibalize.. Torpor.. farmed plats.. etc. Made a rogue alt to 55 (retired)... cleric alt to 55 (retired)... Warrior alt to 55 (retired)...

Then I rolled Monk with Fungi, CoF, Runed Fighter Staff and Elder Beads. Jesus. Soloed to 60, crawled tons of dungeons, had (having) a blast.

But I want to roll another toon. However, around level 30-40 I keep petering out and the grind gets very boring for any of my toons. (30s paladin, ranger, bard, shadowknight, 2nd shaman, 2nd rogue) It could be my bias - but none of these classes seem super efficient when compared to the monk with RFS shredding through every mob... Also can't do the same fun / dangerous camps as the monk as well without instant FD / sneak / etc.

I've tried enchanter, but I like to play a bit more casual now and be able to walk away from PC and not have to babysit a charmed pet. Bard was fun, lots of utility but damn the melee damage sucks, having songs interrupted is worse than spells being interrupted, and swarm kiting frustrates me to no end. Paladin fun to Lull pull and heal groups when needed, but lack of invis hurts. SK is fun to tank with, but it's like a tankier monk with worse FD, worse offense, and no sneak. Rogue - not going there again. Ranger - fun, but lack of damage still compared to monk / rogue, and seems they really drop off around level 50.

I have not played casters on p99 (besides level 20 enc). I know the levelling curve is typically opposite casters compared to melee where the higher level you get, the more tools you get to effectively solo. (Melee, the opposite). Would this make me feel more powerful in that level 30-40 slump?

I know Necro is probably a solid choice that can solo well to 60, casually. But -- anyone else had similar experience and been spoiled by monk? What do next? Sell my melee twink gear and Roll Necro with a Zlandicar Heart? Pick a tank and stick with it? ...Retire from p99? <3

Monk is a broke ass class on this server. Not much gonna compare so I’d get that outta your head.

Necro was a blast though, but they don’t really start getting good until 34+ I’d say enc is more like 29 with c but I don’t think enc will fit your play style.

Might want to try a Wizard. They are quite fun to solo, and you have a lot to look forward to between epic and various damage clickies. They have good damage throughout their life, you are just going to be medding in between fights.

Enchanter is also a lot of fun, and I agree with Crede. Enchanters are similar to Shamans in the sense that they don't get good until you are in the mid game, in the 30s. I have a level 28 Enchanter at the moment with Z Heart and it is pretty great. Between Breeze and ZHeart I don't have too much downtime unless I am really unlucky with mob resists. Enchanter will also scratch your itch of being able to do difficult camps, things that your Monk/Shaman can't do like Siren's Grotto.

Enchanter with a Z Heart sounds awesome. The lack of regen / heals was the other real thing keeping me from continuing on Enc.

Also kicked around rolling a wizard with the fun clicks. Might be fun to log in 2-3 hours a night, 3-4 nights a week. (my current play availability)

I did a monk on live for years, so when I came here my goal was to try every other class, which I have.

Most fun for me have been Necro & Enchanter. Wizard was surprisingly enjoyable once you get to 34 & quadding is very easy/relaxing. Make sure to go DE for hide if you go this route. Most productive class IRL I've had was definitely wiz. Being able to insta pull stuff with flux staff aoe snare is nice for rounding up a quad in a matter of seconds.

I've also done several SK builds. For some reason I keep going back to that class, so many good races available and with a reaver you pretty much slaughter everything until 51. Their epic is so cool if you can manage to get one, the proc is amazing and at 50+ I can kill pretty much nonstop with it if you're open to some fear kiting. Their pets also get a lot better at 52/58 compared to the lower ones.

Currently leveling a Wizard, it's slow to start but once it picks up it picks up. It becomes really obvious why they aren't great in groups when you do group, but solo they're extremely effective.

I just started quadding at 35, and it's simply the most fun thing to me. The XP rate is completely stupid and if you could routinely get SoW / Clarity I doubt much compares to how fast you level. Got halfway through my hell level in a couple hours so far. I loved quadding on my druid as well--which, by the way, is also a very fun class if you haven't tried them.

Druids aren't ever amazing in groups, but they kinda do everything, and transitioning from a Druid to just about anything else is hard. Having SoW, levitate, teleports, snare, root, and decent DoT's and nukes, its just so convenient. You can always be where you want to be. You can solo just about everything. If you get your epic it's even better. You can powerlevel people later. Really, really love druids.

My current twink is an Ogre SK twink. It's really fun to carry groups with. I also have a 45 Iksar SK -- which is fun for different reasons --- but that Ogre strength WOOF my Massive Dragonclaw Shard hits HARD

All pure casters are pretty much leveling machines once you get to the 30s. Mages get a bit of a head start. I hear chain petting is kinda broke atm but also a relaxing class with really fun and powerful pets.

I would just port to wc and donate for potg on my wiz and the xp would flow in. It will slow down 55+ though, not a lot of options unless you can befriend a bard to aoe, only a few good quadding spots left at that point and usually camped like WL sents. I stopped playing at mine at 57 but still enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
