Checked with my erudite. Took off Narandi crown and it got dark. Put on the crown of hatred and no change at all. If it is a light source it's really low.

Just checked and crown of hatred does not appear to act as a lightsource at all, whereas frogger crown is so bright it's noticeable even during the day.
