Default Riposte chance of mob

Think of how to tank better, beside wearing more ac i’m thinking about Riposte from mob
2h is better than fast dw that cause less Riposte, but what’s the difference of them?

i have some logs from gamprase but i don’t know what to show mobs Riposte, does anyone know about the chance of mob Riposte?

I dunno the chance but if you hit it 3 times with dual wield or 1 time with 2h then each hit provides the mob a chance to riposte. You are basically tripling ya chance to eat a riposte. Given relative ratios of course.
As a simple example:
A 40/40 2h vs 2 x 10/20 1h is a simple 2 times chance not including double attack.
Disclaimer: not representative of an actual combat. Only 1 v 1 combat.
Also assuming a mob can riposte every hit received. I dunno. Can they?

Wao you are good at math!! Thanks for clarified my concept!![You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
I try to use https://www.jklein.me/eqcalc
considering no haste, no triple attack, double attack skill 245, dual wield skill 245
40delay 2h = 1/4*1.61*60 =24 hit/min
20delay 1h dual wield = 1/2*(1.61+0.58+0.58*0.61)*60 = 76.3 hit/min

40delay/20delay=3.18[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
3 times of riposte chance~

Oh no~

I wouldn't be overly concerned about Riposte in most cases. Players preferred 1h over 2h before the damage table change. I don't remember people complaining about taking too much damage from ripostes back then.

Here is a previous post I made:

I do have log data from my SK. For these logs he wasn't level 60. He would have been between 55 and 58 probably, so the level 60 chances would be a bit higher.

91883 misses
74550 hits
6414 dodges
7268 ripostes
9735 parries

189850 melee attempts, including kick/bash made against bazgek

6414 dodges / 189850 attempts = 3.3% (155 Max dodge at 60)

7268 ripostes / 189850 attempts = 4% (200 max Riposte at 60)

9735 parries / 189850 attempts = 5.1% (205 max Parry at 60)
If mobs use the same formula as players for riposte skill, I would imagine that most mobs are riposting 5% of swings at best.

In the post linked above I go over my current theory for the damage formula. With Epic Fist + Stave of Shielding and 34% haste I was getting 1.87 swings per second when you combine primary and offhand swings.

So you could say a Monk with that setup is getting riposted 5 times every ~50 seconds roughly speaking.

I took a look at my logs for this video:

https://youtu.be/Ub0bfwyKpE0?feature=shared

On my 1h setup I got riposted 11 times, and swung my Epic Fist + SoS around 1035 times.

Funnily enough I also got 11 ripostes on my 2h setup of IFS
+ fistweaving, while only swinging ~500 times.

RNG sometimes works that way. It does look like riposte rates against players may be lower than I predicted in my previous post, which is good.

can you imagine if mobs try to achieve a riposte/minute rate based on your weapons delay (like your procs) rather than a uniform chance per swing regardless of delay

Riposte may not be big a deal when you are in a group, but a few extra ripostes (200- 400 damage) taken in a solo fight can be the difference between success or failure when soloing as a melee 51+.

If you pretend a two handed weapon had 400HP stat line on it, perhaps that might be a good way to think about

I remember being a non-raiding warrior when POP came out and I was getting squashed so bad I switched to 2H instead of DW just due to riposte damage. I don't remember it being a problem anytime before that though not counting enrage.
