Default New user - freezing at login

Hi all.. I'm new to the emulator but an old-time EQ player. I am having trouble logging in. I have loaded my old Titanium disks and did not patch. I made the correction to the eqhost file and moved the files indicated. I also downloaded the zip file and installed those into my EQ directory. I fixed the shortcut to have "patchme" on the end.
When I launch the program, it goes through the initial screens to the login screen. I type in the username and password that I registered with EQemulator and the program freezes. I can move the mouse, but I can't shut it down with re-booting.
I am using Windows 7 64-bit and have an AMD Athlon II processor. My video card is an NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430. I have 2 gigs of RAM.

Any clue as to what the problem may be?

I don't know what the problem is.
A couple things I would try if you haven't already...
Since you are using Windows 7,
try running it as an administrator (right click on icon on desktop)
or running it in compatibility mode for Win XP service pack 3

personally I suggest using Duxa's all in one installer from this sticky:

Even though you said you followed all of the instructions for getting started, the all in one installer makes it hassle free [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

No dice. Still locks up. Maybe I will try a re-install.

I tried Duxa's utility. It is a very cool application. Unfortunately, it still does the same thing. I'm thinking I've got a setting somewhere that is causing it to hang. Can't figure out what it might be, though. GRRRR

Where is the game installed? Make sure its NOT in program files.. put it in C:\Everquest, also make sure you have the latest video card drivers.. honestly I think it may be your video card. Even though its a classic server that uses classic gameplay it still uses more modern (2005) client (Titanium), which has way higher system requirements than the game did in 99.

Okay, it IS in program files, so I'll try moving it. Honestly, I am looking forward to playing after all this work. LOL

Well, all files moved to a folder in the root directory and shortcut corrected to point to that folder. Game still hangs up in the same spot.

**Edit** Trying a fresh install to root directory and will use Duxa's utility to see if that solves the problem.

Okay, so I just uninstalled the program. Something I did to try to get it to work caused my PC to crash every time the internet connected so I just did a System Restore. If someone sees something that makes them go "Oh, yeah!", please let me know. I still want to play but not at the cost of all this aggravation.

Well, I did finally manage to get on after the Restore. I updated my video driver, loaded the software and ran Duxa's utility. Lo and Behold, I was able to log in. I managed to play for a few hours and the PC crashed again. Same problem of BSOD as soon as the internet connected. Had to Restore again to keep the PC up and running. HELP!
