![]() So having always played on the regular EQ servers, I'm kind of curious what life on a PvP server is like. Is it mostly PvE, or do you spend a lot of time fighting or running from other players? Is it more open, or is it people ice cometing you in the back while you are fighting mobs? Are there random guilds of level 50s that just get together and go through sol b or what not slaughtering everyone? I'm just curious about the atmosphere on these servers.

![]() PvP is hard. You will be trying to level up and as soon as you are low health from a fight, here comes a ganker to try and kill shot you. Game knowledge becomes essential because you can't hunt in the obvious places solo. You have to have a crew, form a crew, or know where to level in remote, obscure places. Every level you ding is a chore, and sometimes you will have to log out for a while and play an alt until the coast is clear and you can go back to your main.
But the sense of accomplishment from building your character in a hostile environment, where you not only have to overcome the server-controlled obstacles but also intelligent human players, is like nothing you will ever achieve or experience on a blue server.

![]() Don't listen to them. Right now it's complete chaos because everyone is noob and everyone is WAY excited about R99 (FINALLY! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]). Things will calm down a great deal. And when they do, pvp servers are pretty much blue servers with some fun pvp thrown in. Yes, you will be PK'd and have to find new exp spots sometimes. Yes, camping highly contested items can be difficult. But when you make friends, join a decent guild and spend time with them things improve vastly. You'll always have exp spots available if you lose one, and you really won't lose much time to pvp. You will definitely not lose every pvp encounter you are faced with. You'll probably impress yourself when you realize how capable you are [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]. This is coming from someone who has always been undergeared on VZ (casual raider).
In my opinion, the real reason to join a pvp eq server is the very unique server politics that take place. You make real enemies, and your friendships matter more than on blue. If you're coming from blue, I suggest you join a anti-pk guild. These guilds do not kill unguilded people on sight (unless they are known pks), allies with most other anti guilds and are at war with the pks. This way, you will have more chances at making friends/allies, and hopefully minimize the amount of enemies you will have.

![]() Yup. Its like regular everquest, but better. There is just more going on..the game is enriched in every way. Moreso with item loot where you need to be extra careful with what you wear and who you wear it with. Its really great.
But dont go expecting to be pro! Just do your best and don't listen to people that are really mean. People will be mean.. Mean people are meaner and nice people are nicer. Its the bomb.
