Default Warriors

Hey guys,

Pretty simple question but seems to be confusing on this server. When starting a warr should I concentrate on STR first, STA or DEX? I've had different opinions from friends and guides, but it would seem like if on this server procs are more important for aggro so possibly DEX?

What is your opinion? I just want to know where to dump my stats first, rest is equip.

Thanks

Dexterity.

Stamina will be capped with tank gear and buffs.
Strength increases damage, thus threat. But not as much as a proccing weapon with high dex does.
Agility doesn't give enough of a bonus to focus on.

2 for Dexterity. Warriors cannot easily get aggro without proc'ing weapons. Even then, it's pretty spotty due to random chance. The only truly reliable way to get aggro on P99 with a Warrior is through instant click effects.

Make sure you put 5 points into agility if you're making an ogre (AC penalty for under 75).

Even worse is the fact that Fungi Tunic is another -10 so you might want to take that into consideration as well. Going 30 or 40 levels with -35 AC or so kind of sucks.

If you are in it for the long haul (and plan on playing late into Velious) all that can should go into stamina.

Str/Dex/Agi will likely be 255 or close with Avatar.

Stamina is more difficult to cap.

There is a good thread here somewhere by Hasbinbad with info about character creation/starting points.

Extra damage from strength does not generate extra threat. I would dump the points into stamina no matter what race, it takes quite a lot of gear to to get 255 unbuffed. We're talking full ToV geared or something. You will want 255 unbuffed, both for the times when you're not grouped with a shaman and the times where you might have to jump right into the fray shortly after getting rezzed and nobody has time to buff you mid-fight.

I don't think new players (especially warriors) will be getting hold of a Fungi Tunic anytime soon after starting.

+dex your job is keeping aggro. it doesnt matter if you have a zillion hps if you aren't getting hit. dex isn't easiest stat to raise.

even with high dex races (halfling/dwarf/welf) id go full dex. its the single most important stat after AC once you have a proc'n weapon.

Alright so gnomishfirework is the one who convinced me, but at least thread is just like server opinion, it's either STA or DEX. So here is how I counted everything stat wise to help me choose race. I went on P99 wiki and calculated all the stats from cobalt and other suggested pieces from kunark for a warrior. Now this might be wrong as idk if cobalt is the best for warr, guessing that it is highest AC just doesn't give much stats and there might also be better ear/ring/belt/back/shoulders set. But right now adding epics and buffs gave me a total of Dex 166, Str 164 and Sta 115. Now that gives me a char that would need to start with Dex 89, Str 91, Sta 140 to reach that magical number 255 in the end. Is there anyway to get the stamina number higher? because right now the only choices open are pretty much dwf that will still come short on Sta, even ogre/troll come close to it but won't come up with that amount of Stamina if I take care of Dex too. Now warrior doesn't seem to be the most popular of all but those 3 races are the most common ones within that minority, I'd like to try something out of the ordinary without having to much consequences in the end. Thinking about gnome, for some reason in 10 years of playing many different chars, I don't think I have ever seen one... and also I just checked on wiki it says avatar only gives +100 ATK and on ZAM it says +100 to Str/Dex/Agi/Atk. This might mess up my calculation but bleh. I'm guessing ZAM is right but I want your opinion again [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Thanks
