![]() Ok I wasnt going to post this bc I thought it was pretty glaring when it first appeared, but apparently everyone is ok with the sound that manastone'ing makes now? In classic it never sounded like you were hitting yourself and also there is an extra red line of text that says "You strike yourself for 60 points of damage".
So is this as planned or something that happened inadvertently, bc I am not sure what everyone else feels about it but I hate it haha. Erati

![]() no opinions on this? everyone is cool with it causing our characters to make a sound that never happened when you used the manastone in classic?
Devs was this an intended fix?

![]() This happens because the stone's spell effect (ManaConvert) is for some reason primarily generating melee "Soandso hits [him/her]self for N points of damage" message instead of the correct non-melee "You were hit for N points of non-melee damage" message. Oddly, the player clicking the stone gets two messages - both melee and non-melee hits for 60. It looks like the following:
To observers (currently): Soandso hits [him/her]self for 60 points of damage. [wrong, not physical damage] To the stone user (currently): You are hit for 60 points of non-melee damage. [acceptable, just not classic] You hit yourself for 60 points of damage! [wrong, not physical damage] You feel your life force draining into your mind. [right, self spell effect message] (order may be off on the first two) This needs to be changed to the following to prevent the player-getting-beaten sounds: To observers (fixed): Soandso staggers. [right, other player spell effect message] To the stone user (fixed): You were hit for 60 points of non-melee damage. [this was not classic but is probably generated by the client for any spell damage you incur, making it impossible to remove.] You feel your life force draining into your mind. [right, self spell effect message. Also the only message you saw in classic EQ.] I would also appreciate if this were fixed at whomever's earliest convenience as it is rather startling to hear someone getting the crap beat out of them all of a sudden and at random intervals. It is especially bad when you are the healer and are otherwise distracted, such as when you have other's hits off or are simply out of viewing range of the chat log.. It also makes food/bathroom breaks much more (too?) exciting!

![]() Yea as a healer it does indeed freak me out if my 2nd healer / caster who ever stones. I always here the mass hitting sound and think theres a train.

![]() Was just an unintended consequence of fixing the "tiger strike" message. I believe.
Not intentional though, no.

![]() thats exactly what I thought it was Nilbog, not the tiger strike thing, just that it was an unintended consequence from a dif fix. I figured someone would get annoying enough by it and a post would appear quicker than this one, but apparently not haha.
Anyway hopefully this can get fixed easily as it is highly annoying to manastone users and players around them ESPECIALLY healers. And is not classic either heh.

![]() Spell sound effects are permanently linked to the graphic effect that they produce. There is no way for us to fix that, unfortunately. Currently the effect is a bunch of transparent green skeletons circling around the player.
