![]() Hi ! I haven't seen any other section in the forum for new players so I will ask questions here and hopefully I'm not at the wrong place.
I've been lurking around on and off and I'm about to start playing. The first time I played EQ, Planes of Power just got out. So I'm not that much familiar with anything prior to that. I do understand that it was tougher, longer. I remember certain details about death penalty and such but really, even after reading stickies on the forums, and the 'getting started', I feel the need to ask because I hate not being prepared. FYI, I played on Shards of Dalaya ( another EMU ) for 2 years not too long ago, so I'm trying to 'deconstruct' anything that might pose a problem to my experience here. 1 - Do classes work the way they are 'supposed to ' ? Rogues Rangers are DPS. SKs, Paladins, warriors are tanks... etc ? 2 - Which classes in classic posed the best solo options ? ( My knowledge tells me necros, druids and bards to some extent were the best ) 3 - Which classes in raiding, are the most important yet unplayed ? 4 - Is the population active enough to warrant finding group at any level and pretty much any given timezone ? 5 - Any tips on trading, getting plats, experience zones, etc ? Other things I should know before stepping in the abyss of non-EXPness ? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

![]() 1) Yes except Rangers blow
2) Necro/Druid are safest solo options. Bard will be fastest if you can learn to AoE kite. Most casting classes in general can solo but some are faster than others. SK can fear kite but it's not ridiculously fast. 3) Enchanter/Cleric/Bard. There's really only one true raiding guild on the server and they're pretty intense. 4) No. 5) Hang out in EC tunnels for 1-10ish and beg for free buffs from high levels. You can zoom to 10 really fast there.

![]() 1. That debatable. It's an emulator. There's a few snags here and there depending on the class but overall it's well sorted out.
2. Necros, Bards, Druids. Yes. Mages also become amazing at higher levels but, due to the pet nerf, they aren't that great at xp soloing. Only at named/item/plat soloing/farming. This is especially true once they get their epic. 3. Every class usually has some form of benefit. In my opinion, the "most important" thing is a matter of perspective and situation. Also if you're asking because you want to have us tell you what class to play. Don't do that. Almost every new player thread here has them asking that question. It's not Everquest if you don't play what you think would be the most fun class/race combos. 4.Yes it is. 5. Buy low sell high. And save things like hides and silks. And of course the long lasting tradition of "loot and sell EVERYTHING".

In any case you should play a class you enjoy (after reviewing the hybrid xp penalty modifiers). Plus less loot competition!

Shammys are much more desirable in grps/raids because of haste/slow than druid. Bards are most desirable end game raiding class atm and bard kiting is retarded fast xp. EC is the way to go ^^ hq bear pelts go for 20 pp trash pelts for 1-2pp and the buffs let you own the zone. once u get a few pelts auction them for a wep or something and someone will pity you and hook it up. if you see opulence/nocsucow in the zone send me a tell and ill give you some pp to get you started.
