Default how far progressed?

Hey there folks.I played EQ for many yrs as an ogre shaman on povar server from the get go.Was wondering how far advanced this server was and plans to go.How close to original EQ are the trades and the alchemy in particular. I been getting homesick for EQ and still have my lvl 70 but when i left the game things were changing too much in the wrong direction I thought and got bored of the instance running instead of the random PoFear zonewide aggro bugs killing even GMs. And the introduction of PoP and its lame bottlenecks killed a good portion of the populace that WoW sucked up. I would like to download the client but dont want to be wasting my time if theres spammers, farmers and just all around annoying hackers to ruin the experience.

It's actually pretty well done. Definitely a good enough population for classic stuff. Community seems friendly. It's worth your time definitely if your looking for a classic eq experience.

we have gone past hate and fear, approaching sky and kunark is roughly 4 months out....manastones are not dropping anymore, mayong has been killed (twice), no plat farmers, only 1 spammer, hackers are pretty much nill.....alchemy and trade skills are ALL like 100% classic now it seems lol....

600~700 REAL players during prime time, no boxing, 300~200 during off times, global chat system as of right now (could possibly be changing in the future if we get more people)

its....more than worth downloading. if you loved 99 classic EQ then you'll feel so much at home that it might bring you to tears.

Currently the server is old world, with only Fear and Hate opened of the original planes so far. The admins plan to open the first two expansions at roughly 1 year intervals (Kunark is expected to open sometime in October, but no date has been set by the admins). I am not sure what will happen once Velious has been open for a while, but that is an issue for a couple years down the road.

As others have mentioned, the server's got a good sized playerbase and relatively little problems with overfarming and spammers. The Admins and Developers are very active in the community and try to work with the players to resolve issues and to make adjustments when necessary (and possible, given we are using the Titanium client) to make the game as close to how EQ was originally as possible.

The best thing is that it's free, so there's certainly no harm in giving it a try. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Thanks for the replies folks. Is the Alchemy the original Alchemy where you could only make potions from mob drops as it was when servers when live first,or are herbs on vendors or is alchemy a combination of old and the new fiasco that alchemy became.I had a big hand helping shape things in the beginning with alchemy since I loved making useful potions and when the first develeopers actually played along side of and listened to players. Didnt like every ingredient being dropped off mobs and from all corners of Norrath just to make 1 potion. Putting the herbs on vendors and making them a plat sink was better for players and making potions more available, but made levelling alchemy ezmode(that part wasnt me,I objected and felt whatever came off the vendor should have been farmable for the lvl appropriate potions off lvl appropriate mobs). Then they totally revamped Alchemy to a near mix of what I suggested 7yrs earlier...except they made some of the drops so insanely rare or in raid only zones that alot of potions never got used or made.Maybe theres some player run data site on some of these things or other trades that I've missed.Been doing alot of reading on these boards to get an idea of things but maybe I've overlooked something.I still have a suitcase of hand written notes for quests, potions, armors and hand drawn maps(yes I was that addicted lol) and guessing I might have to drag it out if the older alchemy is alive since EQTraders site link for older alchemy is broken/no longer up.
Thanks again for any info

Pretty much what I'm seeing.
Except I've never seen over ~550 people on prime time. Has it really gotten into the 600s and 700s?
