![]() Its that time again people, another toilet thread.
I get into these arguments with my mom when i visit and sleep over frequently. I dont care if the seat stays up or down. My mom says its a question of respect, and that "Well, dont you think about me when i go to the bathroom at night half asleep and "fall" into the toilet?" Im like "mom, when i go to the toilet at night, i dont fall into the toilet cuz i check where the toilet seats at first". Im a very practical person, i dont fold socks and towels because i thought about the amount of time ill have wasted at the end of my life doing this as a kid, and never did afterwards. So no matter how hard i try to be nice to my moms and do it, i forget it 2 times out of 3 because my mind cant grasp the logic in it. Am i being an insensitive jerk, is there something missing in my picture that is not making me understand why this is disrespectful? To me it seems some archaic form of subconscious chivalry thing more than insensitivity on my part. I guess its just a habit she didnt adjust out of yet (men lifting up the seat) and shes pissed im making her fall in the toilet when i visit? VERY important subject, feedback please.

![]() It's called common sense.
Something which 97% of everquest players seems to lack. Also humans poop, I dont like to sit on a piss infested seat.

You lift the seat up to avoid pissing on it. You lift it down again so the next person can take a shit or piss without worrying about your gross toilet habbits. Thats practical right there buddy, forget about your stupid socks bro.

To be noted: My mom also has a boyfriend living there, so the next person might not be her, but the boyfriend. So why should he have to lift the seat up again if he needs to piss? Its a trivial matter lol but still

![]() I think this one comes down to who owns the house...
Type of house rules... My house, I share with another dude, so we don't drop the lid. Women are free to put it down. If I go to my girlfriend's house or my mom's house.. I put it down, because it's their house, so I try to respect what they would want. That's how I justify doing it.

Its just she always put it in a technical framework, so technically i couldnt see the logic in it.

![]() If you were the one who had to sit down to pee you'd be in 100% favor of putting the toilet seat back down. I'm also pretty sure if you'd ever have "fallen in" you would understand the desire to have the seat down without question. It's quite traumatic.
You lift it to do your thing, you put it back where you found it (i.e. down) when you're done. Z
