Default Solo Artist Challenge: Velious Targets

For the sake of discussion, I'm curious as to where the Solo Artist veterans think some of the notable Velious targets will fit into the existing list?

I am not getting the impression from Nilbog that Velious is at all close.

HP totals of some zones: Load up eqlive, turn on logs. Slaughter every npc in westwastes, tov, pog, necropolis. Slaughter the zone several times to get the most accurate information. (There is not a showeq spawnlog for Velious of which I'm aware.) Submit the logs.

Quests: This thread has been up a while. http://www.project1999.org/forums/sh...ad.php?t=76729

.path files: Load a local server. Create .path files for the Velious zones. Test them extensively to make sure there are no sploits. Some are made; some are not. These take time but most of all testing.

As far as actual coding.. I don't even consider sql coding.

For the C++ projects: Fabricate a system for Traps.

Research and agree upon the true method for flowing thought stacking rules in Velious. Fabricate a system for it.

Lots more to consider, but those are outsourceable jobs.

Beyond that, I quit just after Kunark came out so I have no experience with Velious. I'll let those who do speak up about that. I'm sure there will be a nice list though, and I'm also sure Velious will be an utter clusterfuck with 1500-2000 server population and, unlike Kunark, everyone will be L60 so they will all try to squeeze into 4-5 Velious zones.

It was in RnF. It is his quote though. Anyway I would guess Velious might even be another year away. Thinking some more, my guess is:

1. When Velious first comes out the server population will double to 1500 prime time / 1000 off time. Velious is *the* expansion that everyone has been waiting for, and there are a LOT of people who have just gotten bored with Kunark after getting 60/epic that will come back. TMO for example has like 150 active members right now; I'm guessing that will be 250 in Velious and they will play 8+ hours a day. That works out to an average population for *one guild* of 80+.

2. The low level population will be destroyed, because a lot of it is alts/twinks and no one wants to play an alt during the first bit of a new expansion. So out of that 1500-1000 people, there will be 75% straight up L60 players.

3. When Kunark came out the population was spread out a lot more because everyone wanted to grind to 60. Zones like Sol B and Guk were packed with low 50s. Velious is a gear expansion and everyone is 60 anyway, so that means everyone will be concentrated into a few zones.

4. What this means is that people will try and play the 'lock down' game. This happened in Kunark (the TMO Droga threads were hilarious back then, if someone wants to dig them up) with the Crypt, the Chancellor in LOIO, and so on, and basically all guilds did it. Velious will be 1000x worse with the cock blocking. TMO for example will 100% try to lock down at least one of EToV/WToV 24/7. With 80+ on they'll be able to have 18 in EToV, 18 in WToV, and still have 40+ to zerg down raid targets. The more casual guilds will be doing the same thing I think.

This is making me really depressed. I remember it took a solid 5-6 months before the Sebilis Crypt had even a 10-20% chance of being open, and Velious will be worse. Especially if it takes another year for Velious. 1000 L60 players in 5 Velious zones is just a straight up clusterfuck.

So I guess things will be so bad that they will have to have another server, either a new fresh one or a split of the current one with /movelog.

There will be no new server (not until awhile after Velious at least), or a server split. I can guarantee you this, and would bet hard plat on it. If some people can't find space in a zone and aren't willing to either do something else or join a guild that can get them access to said zone, then they will just have to deal with it.

I agree, I think Velious is going to be extremely crowded. Most of the lower level folks on now I think are alts of 60s who will vaporize when Velious comes out.

It would be cool to do a server split...would definitely free up content for a lot of folks I think if you could carbon copy the server and do character moves. (No idea if this is even possible) I'm trying to remember what it was like on live population wise...Pretty sure it was 2k+ in primetime, but I'm a little rusty on how crowded stuff was back then.
