I think this is to a large extent a red herring for DeSantis and others to run to the right of anyone in a primary. I don’t think it happens all that often and I maintain it’s a terrible precedent that will be used by leftist democrats at some point in the future

Oh I agree it is probably much more rare than the GOP thinks
And like I said before, this should be handled by our higher education system and by the employers. A large part of higher education is communication, and part of that is what is effective and appropriate communication for your workplace
It’s the same idea as employers discouraging communication about politics or religion in most workplaces. Why is this done? Because these topics can be provocative and cause a lot of turmoil. Are they illegal? No, but a good employer should fire someone who continues to try to get in political or religious arguments with their co-workers
A teacher’s job is to educate, not socialize. It’s the kids job to socialize each other (not that they realize this, but it is), the teachers responsibility there is to do their best to make sure that socialization isn’t destructive to the child, such as extreme bullying. That’s it
That’s why the bill should be seen as anti-grooming more than anti-gay. Talking about your sexuality or sex life to little kids, whether it’s straight or gay can be seen as grooming. And talking about yourself to excess is a sign of a bad teacher with a narcissistic personality. Especially since these are classrooms of little kids without the interest or ability to comprehend most of the plethora of spewed information about the person’s sexuality
