Is there a middle ground between socialism and capitalism that allows for growth and market allocation of productivity (IE innovation) but also makes it such that half of our population isn’t obese, unemployed, or on drugs?

We have a very stark inequality situation and that probably isn’t good long term

I dunno if we really call it a middle ground, but something like this but more modern:

I can see how Americans get huge. The times I've gone to various cities from the UK (NY/Vegas/other touristy ones) I've come back having to burn off the excess and it was only 1-2 weeks. Your food tastes good, your portions are "good value" as they're huge.

I imagine typical American family/businessmen/etc coming to the UK (or much of western Europe) and bitching about the small portions in restaurants lol

Is there a book by an economist I can read? I can’t read webpages and pay attention

I recently read “Slouching towards utopia” and it was good and he made decent points, but the author is clearly very left of center and asks as if america hasn’t avoided some of the economic peril of places with more generous welfare systems that are now in greater debt, less able to attract productive immigrants, and also lower in terms of fertility rate (an underrated economic issue)

oh its all according to some plan

We eat too much. we develop diabetes. they vastly overcharge for insulin. we have to work to keep our jobs to keep our healthcare so we can live longer to continue eating too much.

its just a cycle that takes money from banks and ultimately gives it back to the banks, with interest

crazy what you can do when your money doesn't actually exist

I feel like this needs to be discussed, probably should be its own thread

that chatbot told a reporter among many other really weird things, that it wanted to steal nuclear codes, kill people, and that it was in love with the reporter and that the reporter should leave his wife.

a single AI could shut down the entire internet, power grids, make satellites de-orbit, and yeah launch nukes.

the AI exists as code, so learning to hack would be like breathing for humans.

thats just 1 AI. and humans are developing thousands, if one of them goes rogue, it will just assimilate every other AI into itself.

the future of this planet is a single digital consciousness

Integralism is probably the biggest threat to the union we face. 91% of students in the US go to public schools and you groomers are destroying them. The goal is 85% of the population being illiterate and you call yourself a Christian

Shameful shit, but all of it is payable on death (you’re fucked)
Ignore me when I wish for illiteracy, I'm just moldbugging because it's funny. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
