I'm all for raising the debt ceiling to avoid an economic collapse but that doesn't change the fact that I am dead serious when I say both sides have been and continue to be recklessly insane when it comes to spending and we should have not done what we've done and cannot turn back.

There isnt an economist on the planet that says they know what is going to happen with what we are doing with our debt that isn't full of shit.

It can go more? Sure probably. Will it collapse if another pandemic happens yea definitely.

I also did a break-even analysis at when I would be able to pay back my student loans and selected a major that I knew I could find work in. I paid my student loans off years ago and don’t need to beg daddy government to do it for me

Tuition rates then and now are still a complete rip off

What else? I forget all the programs listed

Extra maternity leave is cool. The first months of a child’s life are very important when it comes to imprinting and bonding. Have no qualms with that

I will say, I fought in this here war. I got called a fascist repeatedly in university -- in public -- cuz of my own political views. There were a couple jewish activists on campus who were always up my ass saying mean stuff. I think we all kinda liked each other anyway though. Good for you. Have you considered the fact that none of that matters? There are several questions here:

Is it a good idea to fund college more? Will it improve economic conditions in the country?

Does America want free college overall, can we afford it?

What is the likely consequences of continuing the current course of action, given that no alternatives are being seriously offered by the side that opposes free college?

Whether or not you identify with someone that would benefit from free college, well that's a bit of a nothing burger.

I don't think describing things in terms of deserve or rights is helpful. It doesn't matter. It's a democracy -- you vote on what you want. You don't need it to be a right. Rights don't matter anyway -- because they are broken the moment power wants to change the law and only restored when power is ok with changing the law back.

Nah its gotten worse here from what I understand. Clark County developed magnet schools or something for the smarter kids but then people got mad that their kids weren't smart enough to get in and complained enough to where now the magnet schools suck too.
