Scuttlebutt is that Manafort was arrested because he has the goods on Tony Podesta.

Podesta quit the Podesta Group yesterday, which he helped found with his brother John in 1988. Dunno if he got a summons or is expected an indictment or what, but somethings going on.

Its obvious the Manafort indictment is based on business dealings 20 years ago.

Its a fraud to get Manafort to cooperate against either Trump or Podesta. They want cooperation.

He's fucking pissed he is on house arrest. The guy is worth several hundred million dollars. He looked depressed as fuck. He is going to sing if it buys him his freedom. Sources also said hes depressed knowing he can't fight these kind of charges. Money Laundering in this instance is being misapplied. The spirit of money laundering was to criminalize undeclared money/profit/capital gains. In this case Manafort was just spending money from his Off-shore international business account and writing profits under his United States companies.

Its a technicality. Its bullshit.

Money laundering was supposed to be about taking ILLEGAL money and trying to make it legitimate. In this instance, the money WAS LEGITIMATE as long as it was properly declared. Manafort didn't want to declare it, and so here we are.

NOBODY WOULD EVER BE CHARGED FOR THIS UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES.

Its bullshit.

But a wheeler-and-dealer doesn't just sit on house arrest. He's going to cooperate.
