I can't even begin to think of search terms to dig up classic sources on killing blows against a player giving you a defense (and maybe other stuff like block, dodge, etc.) skillup in chat but it not sticking with your character on account of the immediate death. | ||

I love you Tecmos, but you have to back up your assertion that this mechanic is not classic.

Agreed, insufficient evidence to warrant change, even if I never remember this on live but see it plenty here.
On the other hand it does make sense when you are a reincarnating perpetual that your best lessons in how not to die might come from when you die? I'm happy to chalk this up as a narrative device for now. | ||
