I went through almost a stack and a half of malachite (27) and can not produce anything other than the lowest level pet, with or without the focus. I am in Paw atm, have not tried it in any other zone. Have not tried my other pet yet

The level 39 pet, varies from level 29 to 33. I just verified it is working on my test system. The old variable pet system would vary up higher levels, which no longer occurs. So the max level previous seen, is no longer the max level.

I found this to be a issue I came back to see if any fgs might be up so I sat in solb killing things trying to get a pet above lowest lvl for hours and hours AND hours and didn't get one. That was with all lvl 50 pets with focus items, and staffs. Would be nice to get this fixed something went crazy with pets since I left.

As much as I want to agree with you, for once I think haynaar is right [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
At least with the pet lvl's. They were a tad higher lvl on P99 compared to live. On another hand. if pet lvl's is lowered, they should get the stat update that makes them on par to 1999 live EQ, where their stats made them hit much better as they do atm. The Fire pet was waaayyy to overpowered on P99 anyway, even their melee sucked. Just a pointer to Haynar. Please make sure the pets actually able to hit anything now... I don't have the time to look for evidence, but I'm pretty sure there are other Mages than me from the old days that know what I'm talking about. In classic era (pre kunark release) the stats of pets was maxed, wich made their melee pretty awsome for their lvl. If this is overpowered I'm not to say. Just saying how it worked.

Pet hit chance does seem to have decreased dramatically with the changes.
I had several instances in SolB where my 49 water pet would have to chase light blue kobolds from the entrance nearly all the way to royals to finish off the last ~5% of health as they fled because he couldn't hit the mob often enough to kill it even as it was running away with its back turned. Couple that with the pets lower damage and the AC changes, which are causing pets to hit for max A LOT less often, and pet damage is WAY down. It seems like the 30hp/tick regen is working in combat, though, so pet survivability is up enough to counter the falling damage numbers and keep them about as effective as before, albeit slower to kill things. Once the regen is fixed to not work in combat... [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

lvl 16 pet spells on mage are summoning lvl 12 pets that can't keep up with lvl 9 mobs. They hit for less and way less and they seem to take more damage than before.

I've gone through four stacks of Malachite on the level 24 pets, and only one has been green con. I think about 9 have been light blue. You just got unlucky.
//EDIT: To clarify, I mean that nothing seems out of sorts. This is exactly how I recall classic level variation working.

I've gone through stacks of Malachite as well to summon a decent level pet. Something is wrong.
