Default for what reasons are necros known to be bad at pvp?

I wanted to play one before someone talked me out of it.

Now after wasting some time with other shit I am starting one anyway.

Why are they bad at pvp? Can't we just root and lifetap spam with added dmg from a pet? Sounds better than a handful of other classes.

And I know the cast times are long on most things, but in team pvp I can imagine it working out for them.

Is I wrong?

At this point I don't really care anyway because I love the class but I wanna know what I am in for in detail if possible.

tstaff/skean proc like crazy and last 18 seconds

+ Dying to a dot after zoning causes you to lose exp.

- The heal component of life taps is subject to the 2/3 pvp damage reduction. On live only the damage component of life taps (not the heal component was subject to the reduction.

1-50 Necros are good at PvP. You'll be fine.

50+ Necros are terrible and should only PvP in groups. Long cast times on DoTs(which just get pumiced), stupid resists, pet dmg being bad, lifetap not able to outheal melee dmg. Also lots of bugs on this server. Pets should DW without weapons, other bugs with regard to lifetap (which shouldn't resist ever in PvP unless you have like 600+ Magic Resist).
