Anyone that has worked with this sort of thing?
How difficult would it be to code in: Softcoded race-based teams Hardcoded race-based teams Softcoded deity-based teams Hardcoded deity-based teams New Race/class/deity combinations Ability for players to switch between teams Nametag colors representing team Custom teams rules (one team allowed to attack their own, basically FFA for one team; crossteaming between certain teams but not others; etc.) Ability for devs to disallow character creation on certain teams Ability for devs apply incentives to certain teams (increased exp rate; etc.) Item loot FV no drop rules Custom items able to be looted from enemy player corpse killed in pvp And anything else you can think of? I'd just like to know what is impossible, what is easy and what is difficult when it comes to coding these things in.

I think these are all Great things to find out about if anyone knows.
A race-based Teams server would be a LOT easier to set up then a deity-based Teams server I would think. The deity setup is a complete disaster for Teams because a Balanced Teams PVP server (or ANY PVP server) was NEVER on the Devs mind when they were passing out deities to every race class combo. If you don't want a huge mess, you'd have to look at every race class combo & make changes to where each Team was actually close to balanced. For a Race-based Teams PVP server you'd just say These 4 races Evil, These 4 races Good, These 4 races Neut & Humans can join every Team. It's WAY easier to Balance & a lot less work I would think. "Nametag colors representing teams" I SO WANT THIS AGAIN!! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Let's try to convince them to work on teams before mechanical fixes

It's pretty obvious that teams is still in the planning phases.

I'm not being negative, just saying lets make a teams server with the same pvp code this one has. It is a really good idea. I'm also asking you to read those articles.

I leveled to above 55 in Illuvitae, the biggest Kunark/Velious elf team guild. At the time, the server was largely (not entirely) leaning toward being elf/short/human vs dark, and I lost count of the times "lighty" guild high elf clerics would immy heal against us. It was frustrating and unfair, but looking back, I loved it. It really helped to give me a sense of in-game purpose; a reason to continue fighting. They felt they had to cheat to defeat us, but we didn't give up. Eventually it led to a guildwar between us and an elf-only guild (Elven Royal Guard) that allied itself with shorts/humans. Was one of the most epic and buggy things to occur in an MMO, I'm sure [You must be logged in to view images. Softcoded teams applied here would just result in FFA pvp, but with %r hotkeys. Hardcoded teams eliminate all of the problems you're talking about, and they're what's really needed on our server.

been saying teams since day 1. these ffa tards dont even know. no offense pals but this ruleset is pretty shitty. i know its been the standard since vztz or w/e box you previously played but nope.avi
to OP, and no offense to staff, but look how long it took to get shit fixed on red. kithicor was down for almost half a year. i think, in order for their to truely be a hard coded teams server, we would need a dedicated developer for a good 6 months to a year, then someone who can make a few changes here and there every few months. not only to implement teams but to fix broken stuff after server launch and during beta. if i had any idea on how to do this, i would in a heartbeat. numerous times ive considered trying but i dont wanna bite off more than i can chew. i wouldnt know where to start besides setting up a stock emu server. from there i have no idea how to make code changes or whatnot. wish i did, maybe one day.
