Default Work blocked IP address?

I don't know why I can't get on at work after hours. I don't think my computer has anything wrong with the shortcut to the game, etc.

Is there any way to ping a server location and see if it gets through?

I was just on last night, but I mistakenly deleted my shortcut file and cannot for the life of me figure out why remaking it won't let me connect. I put in my password and it just says a connection to the server could not be made and for me to check my internet connection

Did you try to do a system restore? Back it up before you deleted the working shortcut?

My work computer has limited access to things like system restore. It cannot be restored.

"C:\...\Everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme

my eqhost still says the correct address and above is the link (... = path name, abbreviated)

could it be something stupid im forgetting?

Maybe your employer monitors your internet usage and noticed you playing EQ after hours on their bandwidth?

Maybe... but I doubt it.

I'd think they'd start with facebook, youtube, etc. before they went after 1 dude playing EQ off hours

Is there a way to check?

Except that facebook, youtube, etc all use one single port, 80, the http port and a couple UDP ports for streaming videos and such. Your company wouldn't have blocked the ip, they would have blocked the gaming ports that EQ uses, especially the one they saw you openning a connection with after hours that is a known port for EQ.

Wow what asses (based on that canyouseeme site)

I can't believe they blocked that today after 1 night of use.

I work in consulting.... i spent 17 hours in the office yesterday doing about 16 hours of work and 1 hour of repeating my auctions while sitting in EC tunnel....

really annoying. not to mention our east cost offices have separate networks than our west cost offices...so i really wasn't bothering anyone.

Have you ever considered bringing a firearm to work? It might be time.
