Ultima Online - IPY 3.0 in January

Since Nihilum is still dropping every mob on the server within their 3 hour time window without variance, that leaves a lot of free time until teams99 comes out. (that one too duke?)


IPY 3.0 is coming out in January with a fresh server.

• Faction based pvp between cities
• Elections to determine who become King of each city to manage taxes and guards
• Capture enemy cities and steal their treasury

Last time around, I rolled with a guild of casuals roleplaying paladins out of Trinsic. We used to charge into battle shouting bible quotes. Even so, our motley crew accomplished the first treasury theft in the game from the "leet pvpers".

UO1 a good if old and dated game.

But I don't see myself getting into it.

IPY 1 was wiped due to a Dirty whistle gm. Not sure what happened to ipy v2.0.


UO is a better game then EQ, but their is rampant cheaters on IPY and cheats make a lot more of a difference.

Items break via use and it is full item loot when you die. Therefore, one cannot pay to win. The one exception is the glass scimitar (costs exactly 1,500 gold which is insane) and can only be used once before it breaks never to be used again.

The primary focus of the game is pvp and not pve.

On red99 /played is largely > skill in pvp. UO rewards skill and creativity.

For instance, we had one guy with no combat skills on his character. He was a lumberjack/carpenter. His contribution during battles was to manufacture boxes and furniture which barricaded all the bridges within our city to slow down enemy forces.
