Default Banable - Macro Keyboard?? Need GM's words.

I'm new to the server ( p99 ) Q : Can one use a Macro-keyboard IF they are at keyboard and not AFK ?? or will this get the person ban from this server ??

Reason i ask is cause i would like to use it while i play a bard ( Song switching ) or for Forage. - I do not plan on using this for any other reason.
also i will not use it if the answer is no - i am enjoying EQ p99 server way to much to be ban for something like this .. please let me know GM's. Ty.

You can step away from your keyboard to take a piss and still technically be using it afk, this wont fly.

No, Technically if i were to step away from keyboard i would turn it off - so i wouldn't be.

But that's also reason why my Title on post has " Need GM's words. " i want facts not opinions. Ty though for your input Somekid123.

This.
Everytime I move, I forage and sense heading. Both are maxed.

Here's a really good guideline when dealing with keyboards/software that do these kinds of functions.

Simply ask yourself, "Is this playing the game for me in any way, or am I still having to control my character and perform actions to complete the task I'm using the program to help me complete?" If the answer is "yes, it's playing the game for me" then it's not something you should be using here on Project 1999. If the answer is "no" it's probably safe.

This method applies to just about any third party program out there - SEQ (The program discovers mob/player locations for me), MQ2 (The program plays my character for me), other cheats/offsets (The program warps my character for me).

Clearly some of these are obvious, while others might be more unclear:

The new log mapping programs are legitimate because they aren't collecting information for you - they are simply displaying a map of the zone that you may very well already have in your head. Another good example is sound triggers - triggers that alert you with a noise are ok, but anything that automatically attacks a target that you were waiting to spawn would be off-limits, since it's automating a task (getting FTE).

So ALL of that being said, in regards to your particular question, the use of your keyboard in the way you are describing should be legitimate. If my understanding is correct (and obviously, correct me if I'm wrong) you are simply mapping one key to do several things at once? IE, /cast 1 /stopsong /cast 2 /stopsong etc. This is considered OK, as it is essentially the in-game "Macro" functionality already built into the client. Here is an example of something that would not be ok:

/target mob001
/doablity 1 (where 1= root)
/pause 5
/doability 2 (where 2 = nuke)
loop*1000

Since this is playing the game for you, it would not be allowed. Leaving a forage or trade-skill macro on and going AFK would not be allowed. Follow this guidelines and you should be fine.

Okay thank you , yes that is the Answer i was looking for , the Keyboard i use is not playing my char. in any way. it is hitting a button for forage while i play the game. as of right now - i was wanting to make a macro that would work like /melody on live , so i don't have to press 1 . 2 . 3 . 4 non stop while i am running and pulling a mob. IF my understanding is correct - that is not " playing " my toon for me , it is as simple as a macro in-game that would be something on the lines of ( below )

/pause 25, /cast 1
/pause 50, /cast 2
/pause 50, /cast 3
/pause 50, / cast 4

The macro keyboard just allows me to add more Lines then the Ingame macro's , and from what i read in your comment i'm allowed to do so , as long as i do not Leave the macro running while I'm Sleeping or AFK ( gaining something while im not at the keyboard )

Please let me know if what i said is right, Ty.

You could always attach the forage button to your directional keys , that's how I've leveled up sense heading etc in the past , often maxing without noticing
