Spells: Magician spell malosi lvl 50 not 51

***Patch Day***

The following is a list of changes that were implemented on the Live
EverQuest servers today:

*Spells*
- You will now receive a message when attempting to mesmerize a
creature that is immune to that type of spell.
- You can now right-click-and-hold on bard songs to determine what
instrument skill is used by the spell.
- Dyn's Dizzying Draught has had its casting time lowered
significantly.
- Corrected a bug in the Druid root + damage spells (Enveloping roots
series) that caused the spell's damage to have a chance of breaking the
spell. They work much better now.
- The Magicians Phantom Armor series now grants HP regeneration.
- The Druid spell, dance of the fireflies, has been changed from
"Outdoor only" to "Night only". It may now be cast in dungeons.
- Corrected a typographical error that allowed high level magicians to
inscribe the Malosi spell. It was not intended for magicians under
level 50.

Currently it is set to lvl 51 and should be lvl 50 according to these patch notes listed.

Despite the patch wording, I cannot find any evidence it has been anything but lvl 51 since then -

Live has it as lvl 51 and not being changed since at least 3/7/02 - http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spellhist...12&source=Live

I could find no spell lists from before 10/12/00 on any site that was not from a pre-Kunark spell list - ie I didn't arbitrarily pick 10/12/00 and 12/9/00.

They really, outside of a couple of quest spells for the hybrids, did not use lvl 50 at all for spells until Velious. I'm not sure it was ever level 50, and not just a poorly worded patch message. I can find no patch message of a change to 51 either. Velious launched on 12-5-00 - my above references show both 2 months before and a few days after Velious - the spell is lvl 51 in both. Since, theoretically, we are at 11-29-00 on the patch timeline, we are past any theoretical lvl 50->51 change. Ie, no matter how you parse it, it looks like the spell should be 51 now and for the rest of this server's timeline.

Kunark didn't come out until April 24, 2000, the patch message above is 2 weeks before Kunark even released.

For a few weeks before Kunark, Mages were able to scribe Malosi as it was set to 49, not level 50. Shamans get Malosi at 49. This was corrected to level 51 before Kunark even came out.

Corrected a typographical error that allowed high level magicians to
inscribe the Malosi spell. It was not intended for magicians under
level 50.

Just because it was not intended for mages under 50, which was the then current level cap, doesn't automatically make it set to 50.
