Does anyone hunt tantor? I really want the tusk, but I've never even seen one for sale.

Is he just really rare? I remember there were a ton of the tusks on live on Sullon for smacking sitting casters. Why are they so rare on P99?

I'm probably one of the bigger Tantor hunters on the server. I don't believe in raids or questing, just a dynamic world experience out in the overland. You can't get that on any other MMO on the market, it's classic.

on pvp servers these went for a pretty penny due to jousting n such, doubt they will go for much on blue

This was the first and last time I've ever seen tantor here

Im like 90% sure thats from the one I found. It dropped nothing.

Also, killing animals doesn't help much. You kill a mammoth and its respawn could be a drake or a wyvern. Before server reset there were very few animals left up in WW so killing just animals was very hard to get a Tantor or Stronghorn pop if thats how it works here. You would need to kill Wyverns as well if hes on a random repop cycle from any WW mobs.

I pretty much live in Western Wastes and have never seen Tantor. He's rare as hell here.

If I saw him up, i'd probably try and solo although since he's likely over-resistant (like burrowers), I'd probably be unable to snare him and keep a pet charmed

Wrong, Druid can solo

Charm a pet>Glamour>Ensnare>Pet attack>Flame Lick/Snare as needed to maintain aggro

But your right OP, back when SoV was originally released Tantor was more common. So was the wolves.

Should be able to solo here as well. I tried when velious was first released and he summoned and was resistant as hell. As stated in the link below he is suppose to be fixed. I have not found him up since to see if he is truely fixed on p99.
