![]() Main point here is that wearing something nice can raise someone's appearance a couple points, at least, on the usual 1-10 scale. Just say no to slob clothes like tee-shirts and jeans. Then you can gain another point or two via the use of good posture and body language. I'm just old enough to remember teachers in school (public school, no less) trying to teach girls how to look up through their eyelashes and generally make themselves appear pretty and appealing....or those same teachers yelling at me for forgetting my belt when wearing trousers with loopholes, or griping at some unfortunate gal who wore flat shoes with a dress. I didn't understand why they did that at the time--it just annoyed my 12-year-old self--but decades later I've learned an appreciation for pride and self respect. It matters, but appearance is a learned skill which too few people these days learn until much too late in life.
Disclaimer: I own zero outerwear tee-shirts and zero items of clothing made out of denim so I am in fact severely biased. I despise slob clothes. Girl in the original post goes too far in the opposite direction--her outfit isn't much more than a nightgown, and not really proper for public appearance--but well serves as an example of good presentation making someone look nicer than she realistically ought to.
