Hello all! Complete Noob Here!

Hi all

I am a complete noob to EQ but here's a little bit about me. When I first came to the world of MMO's I started with WoW and played that for 10 years until things got sour with a guild i was in (Long story so wont go into details) and got burnt out.

I then went into just playing single player games for awhile but was missing that itch of online play and meeting new people. I didn't want to go back to WoW as in my opinion Blizz are just milking it now instead of listening to the player base and the game to me has lost what it once was. I tried a few other mmo's such as DDO, Archage ect but just couldn't find my 'Home' with the community.

Now to EQ, I had heard of it but had never given it a thought to try it (I now realise this was a mistake lol) then one steam sale I had bought Craft the world and was browsing youtube on vids on how to play and came across AC Gamer's channel. after watching a few vids on craft the world I saw he also played EQ but Project 1999 not live.

I watched his vids (and still do) and was really getting into the game and the commentary and thought this could actually be a game I could invest my time in so I downloaded EQ Live from steam and started to play and really having a blast I know the game had changed alot but I was able to take alot of his advice and apply them in Live so it helped. I really wanted to try p99 but at the time I didn't have the disc's and the funds to get them so I stuck with the live servers. Did some server hopping to find where and what I wanted to play (i'm a f2p player so only get 2 character slots per server), The highest level I got so far is a level 24 magician.

Then this Christmas I finally got the disc's from a family member who was nice enough to buy them for me (I must of been real kind to them last year lol) and have now started a barbarian warrior (Thoom inspired [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]) and having a blast, I'm only level 2 right now and it's very difficult to get started but I love this game and having a blast. I also find I get lost alot (used to having the map on live lol) but thats also the fun, getting lost in the world and discovering new things (well new to me anyways lol).

Thats really it about me hope to see you all in game and if you see a low level barbarian warrior named Athelion running into a wall feel free to give me a little nudge in the right direction lol.

Yo man welcome to P99 - was gonna say "yargh matey, ye scallywag, go and dig for the titanium booty along the coasts of pirates" but I see u have a nice gift-giving family so youre set - check the wiki and class forums for info. GL

Welcome! Yeah, EQ is sort of hard mode at the beginning. Hang in there. It’ll get better.

Welcome to P99. This is a great place with lots of good people.

if you remember classic wow in like 06 then your good to go. The grind of p99 is slightly longer, but it also seems to be worth more when you accomplish things.

Having tried nearly every mmo released since 99, I find myself thinking that this specific version of eq has returned to being the best product in the market.

Lastly my standard advice, Join a leveling guild, it will help you find friends, groups, knowledge of what to do, ect.

Making a warrior as a first char is hardcore. Since nice items are not that hard to get if you know how to make money it's pretty doable nowadays, so try it out. But starting with a caster is definately easier [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.].

I Mained a warrior on p99 without much eq experience. It's definitely a hard choice. You will suffer. You will wonder why the devs made a tank class who can only auto attack and bash. Taunt rarely works. You can't run fast. You have no invis. If you make it to the 50s you'll be highly sought after and the best tank in the game. My suggestions are consider a different class with more abilities and find friends, join a guild!

Do it. Play your warrior.

It is a fun class that adds challenges other classes do not have.

In the end it's very fulfilling as you can tell from posters like Naethyn and Skarlorn who both main/mained warriors on p99.

I will watch for you, if you happen to be around I will give you a warrior weapon if I see you need an upgrade.

Best of luck. Warrior is probably the hardest class to start w/ no resources.

They're also outclassed by SKs and Paladins in small groups...they just don't have the grouping tools.

To each their own. Obviously you were into the WoW raid scene so if you get into P99 raiding on your warrior, you will be very sought after and can join any guild you want (basically).

Big welcome to the server buddy EQ is the greatest of all MMOs. .. warriors can be a rough first class to start as but Imo best class of them all.. just stick with it look for me online if you ever have questions, need help or find yourself near commons area I will drop some gear on a fellow tank to make leveling easier and more enjoyable. . Warriors are best dude ever raid needs us... good luck man and again welcome!!!
