Default My corpse will expire if it hasn't already

I used to always wonder how people let their corpses rot when they have seven days to recover them. Then hurricane Helene hit and I've been without water or electricity for seven days. I'm only able to post this now because I finally found a straight talk card and am using a cheap cell phone. All the straight talk cards had been sold out, but I finally found one in Johnson City.

Is anyone else having their EQ life ruined by this storm??? Not to be a hater but I hope I'm not the only one.

They will obviously restore your corpse. Just petition and it'll be summoned in EC by the EFP zoneline.

Sorry to hear about your situation though, but I wouldn't stress out over your p99 corpse.

This is the saddest thing about P99. You cannot lose your corpse/gear unless you 'choose' not to petition.

Bring back real death, petitioning for corpse retrieval is WoW levels of "MUST NOT LOSE ANY SUBS! MAKE IT EASY AS POSSIBLE!".

I remember raid wiping before a holiday and needing to stay up super late because I wasn't hauling my 400 Mhz tower back with me to Chicago from New York, no guarantee my corpse would be there when I get back.

I had a fun time losing my corpse in Fear just a few hours before I normally head to bed when I was leaving town for 7 days in the morning. High stress but thankfully I was able to get it recovered on my own and makes for a good story.

Didn't actually realize the CSR would just restore your corpse. I remember trying to get to CoM back in the early 2000s and getting turned around, something see invis slapping me and then training random mobs around with my hair on fire until I eventually died with no clue where in the zone my corpse was. I never did recover that corpse, all my gear rotted, and that was the tipping point where I quit the game for 20+ years.

To be clear, on live everquest back in the day they would never restore your corpse. Only P99 does that. Very sad, takes away the danger of the world, and to some degree the community.

I think nilbog has some evidence that live CSRs may have had the ability to grant players some lowbie NO RENT gear if they lost their corpse, but thats it.

there was one instance where a bad hurricane happened, and CSR stepped in and helped players. I cant remember the name of the hurricane or what year it happened though. May search around a bit and see if I can find it.

The definitely could. Buddy of mine on live on Morell-Thule died in OT. Somehow his body glitched through the ground. I don't remember the circumstances of why they couldn't get it back, but eventually a GM did restore most of his stuff along with a suit of "Medium Shadowknight Armor" to replace what he had been wearing. He was an Iksar and the look/stats of it were on par with Dreadscale quest armor.

I don't think they could actually restore corpses directly, but they definitely did restore gear sometimes. Seemed to just be GM luck of the draw. I knew someone who lost their corpse and the GM restored some, but not all, of his items. I heard other similar stories.

But yeah, likely you were screwed.

I also am super high in the mountains [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] our town flooded because of the rivers that run through it. my 80-90 year old relatives said they never seen it flood here like this, so it was kind of historic.

there was a random lady who was visiting here and tried to drive through a puddle and her car completely sank and she almost died, and in an interview she was like "I didnt realize how serious the floods in the mountains are, im used to normal floods" and were all like... um this isnt normal !!!!!! the way she talked it must be like this all the time ! lmao
