If you and your friend would remember to turn off the hacks root would work as intended.

Trying to compile all resist results here (minus wehrmachts stupidity)

It's easier to keep it all in one place for them to read, but they're largely aware of this and have gathered a lot of data on it already. Can't hurt though to keep it in one place.

MR based spells seem completely out of whack on beta. CR, FR, seem to land frequently even against targets with above average resists to these lines of spells.

Can't comment on DR or PR yet.

Which has me wondering if any MR based spell is going get resisted more then another spell with a different resist. That would suck classes with magic damage based dots and nukes.

True but thats the way it has to be. Most MR spells are too powerful insta kill type spells. There are the ones everyone cries about, snare, root, blind, darkness, fear, whirl, mez, etc..

The MR spells are the "game over" type of spells when they land on someone. They should be on a different resist table than Fire Cold Disease and Poison.

if they are "game over" type spells, the solution is to pump MR by getting l33t items, not cry to GMs

on every pvp server ever, ppl stack MR. they have to make a choice about where to put their resists, and the best one is usually MR. after all MR-based spells get nerfed, i think i might complain about poisons next "they can kill you fast!" and then maybe fire, because well.. a lot nukes are fire, and they hurt too

Resist checks work a bit differently for crowd control spells since there can't be a partial resist like with nukes. Magic-based dots usually have a resist penalty and should land fine, except for the darkness line which should resist like any other snare. Root becomes the most worthless spell against high MR since even if it lands, it'll usually last only a few seconds while snares, stuns and mezzes have set durations. It's why it can be worth spamming a low-level snare just for the small chance of landing while casting root against anyone in decent gear is pretty much pointless. It's a shame Earthen Root isn't in until PoP because it has a -30 resist check. Cleric nukes (and the magic-based wizard and magician nukes, if anyone is ever dumb enough to use them in PvP) should land better than CC spells, just almost always for around half damage against people with 100ish MR. Enchanter nukes can't check for partial damage due to the stun component, so I'm not completely sure how that'll work.

Not that many actually until Kunark. The best wizard nuke is cold, shaman nukes are cold and poison, and the high-level druid nukes are split evenly between cold and fire. The only class that really has fire as their primary damage source is magician. Then wizards get Sunstrike in Kunark, of course, but people mostly use draughts and lures by then and the best draught is also cold. The 59 druid nuke is fire, though.
