Default Difference in Classic Live *Rare* drops

P99 ... 3 Days on and off lvl 30 mob with what seems like 1/100th chance of dropping after killing said mob 14 times in 3 days

Live ... IF even 30 mins on a level 30 mob to get the item drop.

I saw a Melodious Truncheon in the auction forums. You know not even ONE of those exist on Al'kabor , and I personally camped it for 2 weeks straight because I just have a thing for ultra rare items.

THere is even patch notes for the current EQ live progression server that say something to the effect of "certain kunark drops were made more common". Guarantee you Truncheon was one of them.

If there are more then a few Melodious Truncheons on p99, NOT CLASSIC. You guys don't know the meaning of true "ultra rare".

How many of those are there on the server? If its more then a few, a bug report is in order.

Melodious Truncheon wasn't ultra rare. I saw that thing all the time on live, long before progression.

Well not even one has ever dropped on Al'kabor, and only three Steel Hilted Flint Daggers (I own one). About the same number of those short swords that proc darkness.

The rare drops from Howling Stones are VERY rare on Al'kabor. And yeah I know all the place holders of ever named in the joint. When you are stuck with the same expansions for half a dozen years.. you have to find things to amuse yourself with.

Temerity is close last I checked. We had killed Fennin and Xegony when I was there and I heard they killed Coirnav after I left.

PoE is very buggy. Rock ring is broken.

Backflagging is a bitch and the server wasn't didn't get the patch to kill it. The flags also have to be done in the specific order because Alkabor didn't get that fix either.

There are not "Lots" of things different there. There are some relatively minor bugs there that didn't get fixed during that time line. At a specific point support was cutoff and the server was stuck with no patches or updates.

The server is as close to Classic as SoE offers right now and the Devs would be well advised to use it as a model for this server.

Yep, thats why I reference Al'kabor so much, its the perfect model for this server. EQ did not change that much at all between 1999 and Al'kabors client. It was only after that timeline that things started to get crazy/ez with huge pet ravamps, zone revamps, spells all revamped, etc.

If only Al'kabor could somehow burn Plane of Knowledge to the ground.... it would be the perfect server [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] (minus a few bugs that later got fixed PC side)

(oh, and make a red clone of itself..)

Tem beat warlord ginklo..wtf his name is too. So only rathe council left, unfortunatly we have the version that was never beaten by anyone, anywhere so... yeah.
