I have to ask, why? do you enjoy reading his nonsense? do you think he actually has something informative to say? or do you just like to laugh at his idiocy?

Multiple things lead to the civil war. Slavery was one of the things that lead to it. Take for instance the Missouri compromise prohibiting slavery in certain territories and then allowing it in others (in order to balance the number of free and slave states). Then the kansas-nebraska act came out negating the missouri compromise. allowing popular sovereignty, saying that the new state/territory could vote for or against slavery. This caused animosity between the radical abolitionists and the pro slavery people. You also have to take into effect that southern slaves were running away to the north, with the aid of northerners, adding more to the animosity between the north and the south. Throw in some wild cards like John Brown and it made things even worse. The final straw was when Lincoln a republican/abolitionist ran for president. Many southern states stated that if Lincoln were elected they would succeed from the union. In fact many southern states didn't even have Lincoln on the voting ballets. Lincoln was elected and South Carolina succeeded from the Union causing the civil war. You can also throw in the fact that the North was more educated/anti slavery, and the south was more agricultural/farming.

Pretty good summary of the political situation, except you left out the fights over tariffs and slavery expanding toward the west.

yeah, it was cheaper to send raw ore to france for smelting to make nails and ship it back than to send it to the north to have nails made, so lincoln was like TAX THAT SHIT YO.

south carolina was like FUCK YOU LINCOLN, WE WANT CHEAP NAILS.

rest was history.

In the not so distance future of Everquest Next emulator rants and flames forums, there will be a young abacab asking the future sheep of the everquest world what was really the reason for the Iraq war.

The response will be similar to this thread about what the real reason for the civil war was. A response that includes regurgitated information from falsely written history books and poorly conceived notions including, "because they flew em arrow planes intu er towerz attacking our freedumb in uhmurika." And, "weapons of mass destruction that they could have used instead of our own aero planes that we never found."

I love how stupid you socially awkward lemmings truly are when it comes to the truth of the matter. Not one of you has the slightest clue as you try to flex your internet penis to measure something you all refer to as "intelligence."

You all still dumb. Stay tuned for explanation in the not so distant future.

Superiority complex-ridden "Godking" of an Everquest emulator forum lording his esoteric knowledge of historical events accuses others of being socially awkward. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

What really happened to Elvis? Bruce Lee? Andy Kaufman?

I bet you idiots think you know because you've read "peer-reviewed scholarly" articles and books BUT YOU DON'T KNOW.

I saw this thing on the History Channel that says OTHERWISE...

Illuminati b/c Da Vinci Code.
