That is the only way you really beat p99, imho. It's like the lesson of the movie Wargames; it takes a while for the ol' computer to figure it out, but after around the 1,000th scenario of end game fuckery, you eventually come up with some outside the box solutions. Such as simply not assenting to said fuckery. Or poopsockery.

Saccing a chanter to make pp is definitely outside of the box, just not in a good way.

Why do so few people seem to understand that dinging 60 doesn't suddenly mean you must either "poopsock" with TMO or quit the game? You can do everything at 60 that you can at any point 1-59 (except for ding another level), but you can also do MORE things at 60 that aren't as doable before. It seems like the people who are always hating on the endgame are the sort that think it's a lame ratrace, and yet those are the same people that get whiny and quit p99 when the LEVELING ratrace comes to an end. Wtf?

Level 1 - 59 offers so many more zones than do the challenging level 60 ones.
