Dude, Enchanter sounds like an awesome choice. From the outside (a Shaman's perspective) it looks like one of the most fun and creative classes.

Plus you can get stupid rich from selling jewelry.
I agree. Enchanter is a great choice. My main was a chanter until I started playing my monk. Chanters are such a cool class and if played right, can really do some crazy stuff that most other classes wouldn't dream of. Just try to get through those early levels without quitting because the class does get better and better as you level.

did the "eeny-meeny-miny-moe" approach which landed me on an enchanter. this will require a bit of selling off gear but overall not too bad... will be hard deleting some toons but I think this is probably best so I stop looking at them as options.
I'd never delete any characters I'd worked on. A better thing to do is make a new EQemu account and just focus on logging that one in with your new character...and keep the other info written down somewhere and stored in an awkward place [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Enchanters are great, but you can't be an iksar. Necromancers are really fun and very versatile within a group or without if you're a skilled player, however you might have a difficult time finding groups sometimes unless you build a reputation as an excellent necro, as many people view necros as solo-only, or of limited utility in a group.

Monk is my personal favorite class for the reasons I mentioned in the other thread, followed closely by enchanter. Monks are very powerful, but it will be a big change of pace from your bard.

My advice, get some basic gear for a monk (5/55 rings and wu's quivering staff) and level it to 15 or so, then do the same for your necro. You'll have a fairly good idea what the classes are about by then (but won't have tried out FD yet of course). If you still can't decide which you want to keep, flip a coin. If you're disappointed at the outcome of the coin toss, you'll realize that you know deep down what you really want to play.

Play them all if you like them all. Who cares how long it takes and if you have no real main? It's nice being able to switch gears now and again and play a different class. I'd recommend not worrying about gear for your toons though. The game is so much more fun to play untwinked.

Otherwise if you really want to twink them, here's how to do it fast and on the cheap:

Monk: 5/55 rings, Wu's Quivering Staff, Any cheap 1hb for skillups (or a pair of Trance Sticks for 200p more for better DPS 1-20), Wu's Gloves ~ 700p-900p
Necromancer: 5/55 rings, Smoldering Brand (or Water Crystal Staff if you want to save 450pp, but Smoldering Brand is nice to have to pass to every new alt you roll), Plat for Spells first 20 levels ~ 900-1300p
Bard: 5/55 rings, Vendor Bought Instruments, Cheap 1 Hand Weapons for Skillups ~700p

This is assuming you have that much in gear, otherwise for the really cheap:
Monk: Wu's Quivering Staff 100p
Necromancer: Plat for Spells
Bard: Vendor Bought Instruments, Maybe a set of Banded Armor ~90p

Not entirely true with iksar illusion (and that quest was pretty cool to do). I agree with the monk thing, though. I started with my chanter, but once I started really levelling my monk I just fell in love with the class. However, chanter is still my choice for a caster and Necro a close second caster wise.

I have yet to have a real "main" on the server and keep asking advice on different methods of play but my biggest problem is that I basically like ALL the classes in this game and can't make up my mind. I am currently thinking of going with a Necro or Monk as an Iksar because through my past Eq experiences i have never played an iksar or leveled in Kunark. Currently working on a bard so I would be stripping him to gear the new toon... any suggestion on how to deflate an alt/main crisis?

Thanks to everyone in advance.
When I first started I created a halfling druid. easy w vendors (no faction issues), fast exp, and class that can make cash.

At level 19, I realized it was not for me. I made an iksar monk (I too had never attempted an Iksar toon) and fell in love. Sure, sometimes it's hard to vendor or bank, but it is possible, and totally worth it. I find now that I can vendor at druid rings, ec tuns, gypsies, sneak selling. It's kind of fun being able to (basically) kill any guard you want knowing you're already KoS anyway! As far a banking goes, you can always buy gems from vendors as you see them to be able to "convert" your cash into lighter weight.

Plus, you get to be the elite Norrathian race, so that's a positive about becoming iksar, also.

As far as transferring, I would find a nice high level druid to transfer some stuff for you to FoB. I believe I paid the druid 100pp to safely tranfser some items.

Send me a tell in game, I'll try to help you out finding someone to hike your gear out to your Ikky if you choose to go that path!

Also, Enchanter is a good choice because Charisma gear is relatively cheap. I have a Sacrificial Dagger if you want to help get you started. It's like +5int, worth around 100p but yours for free if you want it.
I appreciate the offer, by stripping my bard I will probably have 10k or so to setup an enchanter though which should yield some decent gear.

I actually think going enchanter will solve my identity crisis im having and allow me to get some decent cash later on. If I want to be whatever race, I can. I can also be pretty useful in groups overall. I'll see though I don't know if I have made up my mind.

Deck out the enchanter then and buy some bare minimum cheap gear for the monk and necro if you still want to tool around with those. It really doesn't take much gear to make either of those two classes effective and fun to play. Especially if you go with iksar.
