 | I never report stupid names. I view it as a sort of community service when someone I won't like walks around with a sign over his head advertising himself as such. Danth | ||

 | It seems to me that the naming policy is fine except that it leaves out a single relevant fact. All it would take is an extra sentence to the effect of "... and all these rules will not actually apply until another player petitions the offending name" and everyone would be on the same page and know what to expect. | ||

 | The non-rp or existing fantasy name rules of Live would be excessive here IMO, but there are definitely more than a few people with absurd names here that need to be changed. | ||

 | When I played on Fippy Darkpaw I had a character named something mildly offensive. It's a cognate, and not an actual racial slur, but people are idiots and I of course was playing off of the fact that it was a cognate to a racial slur. I was a DE SK, and the name was N-----o Bandito. I think the first time I was reported I was level 21. The GM showed up, and was like, OK, not gonna even try. You need a new name. When you log in, it will prompt you for a new name - and then I was booted to desktop and sure enough, my character was flagged for it. So, I thought, let's be rambunctious. Let's just enter in the same name and see if it will stick -- and it totally did. I then began a long trek of consistent reports, and getting my name repeatedly changed. I of course, kept changing it back to N-----------o. I made max level on the char, and developed quite a reputation on goblin isle as being a good puller, especially because i was ruthless in getting those gobbos. I like to think that the name was my moniker - like 'Zorro' or 'Captain America.' - especially as I was best known for 'stealing' gobbos (although I'd contest I got the first hit on them). I remade the toon here, realized I didn't really want to even persist the idea of a racial slur, and asked for a rename. That character is now named Scrumph. Turns out the name was the only reason I liked playing a SK.

 | It's completely random as to what's acceptable or not. I petitioned for a pretty acceptable roleplaying style barbarian name that would require 2 capitals, and Eunomia denied it. This is in a world of people named stuff like Aids Sandwich and Fart Farterson. It almost feels like the dumb names are preferred.
