Default New Cleric to start leveling / roleplaying

In my attempts at rolling an alt I made a monk, and every night in FoB I see 3-4 of the same monks grinding up and 4-5 new monks making there way. And despite how much fun it was grouping with 3 other monks and just tearing the pit apart, it seemed too saturated this month with monks of my level.

So in better news, I will be rolling a cleric! A class I have always wanted to try. I am looking for potential duo / trio partners that are able to play later in the evening MST (around 10CT/11ET). I am also torn between High Elf (love the continent of Faydwer and Tunare yay) or Dark Elf (being innoruuk and getting the snare necklace may have its bennies [You must be logged in to view images. Biggest concern for High Elf is their strength seeing as I want to be pretty in plate, but for more wis I think I could make due.

If you have any insight on race and context behind it, or any interest in starting a hopefully recurring group let me know [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Either way you go, as a cleric, I bet you will have no shortage of opportunity for partners and groups!

I went dwarf for the higher str benefits. But honestly, for me, High Elf or Erudite would have worked out better in the long run. I only say that because I duo/trio with a Warrior and Rogue, so I really didn't end up needing the extra str anyway. But dwarves look awesome!!!

Another consideration is Cultural armor if you work on it later. As Dwarven imbued plate will give you STR, STA, and WIS. HIE will give you DEX, CHA, WIS. I don't know the others off hand, but that's only a consideration.

Inny clers get the option of a snare neck piece:

Regent Symbol of Innoruuk

Same thing I did. I love they look come Velious even more!

My only regret, which won't bother 90% of the server is that they cannot wear robes. So missing out on one of the best chest pieces in the game in VP right now... [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

If you go erud, look up Pytur, he's just hit 4 and a necro/cleric is a boss combination.

I'm actually just returning to EQ myself, I have a lvl 5 cleric and a lvl 7 bard atm, but I am a veteran r/p'er and would not mind rolling another toon to go with a cleric, I've played just about every class/race, so I'm open to anything.
