Notice the terms "contribution" and synonym "gratuity". A gratuity (commonly referred to as a "tip") is exactly what they are asking for when they use the word "donation". If you go to a restaurant and have a meal, you are 100% not required to leave a tip even if the service was excellent. Just because you are not required to tip (just as you're not required to donate for a port), you're still an asshole if you don't.
Being pedantic is annoying. Being pedantic and incorrect about it is even worse. Unless of course you think every single person who uses the word "gratuity" to describe tipping at restaurants is also wrong.
