One thing that does leave me confused is. Is it set up as Good v Bad?
From the vid's that I've watched this doesn't seem to be the case & more of a crazy free-for-all.
How the hell do you know who is who & who's an ally or no?

Default Not getting griefed

Welcome to Red! Here are a few tips to avoid twink PKs:
• do /anon or /role, either of which will hide your level, class/race, and location; /anon also hides guild tag (though people in the same zone as you can use /guildstatus to find out)
• don't make your level/location known in /ooc (which is a server-wide channel on Red99). For instance, /ooc'ing "22 bard lfg in Mistmoore" has the potential to attract a predatory PK, as does "20-26 Mistmoore group lf3m pref dps/heals" (3 noobs in Mistmoore without DPS or a healer?? Sounds delicious!!). Instead, just don't include location: "22 bard lfg," "20-26 group lfm pst," then let people send you tells.
• level anywhere but Faydwer. The most popular leveling route is GFay > CB > Unrest > MM > CoM, so that's where the twink PKs go. However, there are excellent leveling zones available, especially if you form a group then buy a port there. Blackburrow, West Karana bandits, Befallen 10-20+, Najena, SolA, South Karana, Paw, Kerra Isle, LOIO, more. Many of these zones also have some useful little loot items.

A lot of us are nice people looking for a greater challenge than that posed by the simple AI in EQ. If I can defeat other players, then I'll know I'm good. If it's a close fight, I know I'm expanding the limits of my abilities.

I never drink energy drinks; and I no longer have anger issues (since I started studying Buddhism / anger management / and practicing clear communication skills during high school). However, I do tend to be a night owl.

How do you tell who is who?? /Assist & a gameplan I assume?
You mean in mass PvP? Yeah, /assist, as well as /assist NameOfMainAssist. Usually a DPS class plays the role of main assist. Also, each class has a role(s) in group PvP - clerics heal but also dispell, blind, root, stun if possible; druids use their deadly DoTs, thorns on allies when facing fast melee attackers like rogues and monks; rogues go for the kill; etc...

Thank you Videri, that's some great tip's.

I'm thinking that you have to assume everyone is out to toast you?
I'm also assuming that people will Lie via tell's, trying to get info out of you for a possible Kill?
So when you do make some friend's, I imagine you learn to appreciate them a Lot more. Thanks again for the reply.

In a group PVP fight would you always aim to take down the healer, chanter first?

I'm still unclear if you have 'sides' as it were? Or is it a free for all ?
The vid's I've been watching show Gnome Wizards taking out Gnome Wizards etc, so it's not Good V Evil ?

Apologies for these daft question's, but It's something that has always puzzled me about Red.

That's a safe assumption, but most players under 50 are focused on leveling up - especially anyone that looks mostly naked, hehe. Act a little "paranoid" - keep Gate memmed, buy a 10-dose SoW potion, put your buffs in reverse priority order so a couple useless ones get dispelled first (protect HP and SoW buffs). Don't sit near melee classes - that lets them do max damage on their first hit. Get some form of see invis asap. "Roll deep" - travel with allies. Use Teamspeak to coordinate with them.

Perhaps surprisingly, I can't think of times people have straight-up lied to me. I think it's a big no-no to say "Let's group" and then show up and attack. However, some players will attack groupmates who AFK for too long in a group (leeching exp) or who play badly enough. If someone trains the group or fails to heal a tank, maybe twice...you can kill them. On Red you have permission to be a badass. It might be tough to be the big dog if you're not twinked, though, so I guess you can do that on your second character.

Indeed. Meeting trustworthy and helpful players is great - especially if they're gung-ho PvPers.

Heya [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] I was originally on xegony then switched to TZ to join my roommate.

PvP servers are fun - however, you need to expepct to be killed. Sometimes after getting frustrated, i'd just have to switch to my low level character and level him for a bit to let the person killing me get bored.

Othertimes, it's a blast hunting down others hehe.

I recently joined p1999 blue server and switched to red about a week ago. So far, people have been nothing but nice at my low level. Will I run into twinks out for blood? I'm sure. But its part of the server, and I can always switch to my iksar for a bit if I need to.
