Mage focus items

The fire pet with the focus item is the best for me. The Damage Shield lets the enemy chew through themselves very quickly. With the focus item, I can send him in on a Dark Blue con and he will win - the extra hp keeps him alive. I can either heal him, or resummon after the fight. I prefer to keep him alive to save on regents....

I don't do the reclaim kill for full xp because I am lazy. Plus I can kill so fast with the focus pet right now, I don't see the need.

That is what I tell new people with a Mage. Piss on the pet penalty, just go kill, kill, kill. No other class, other than maybe a Enchanter with a Charmed pet, can kill faster. Just go for it. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

The reason why the fire pet is good is becuase of the DS it has not the DD. The damage from the DS is neutral damage so its possible to actually out damage the pet and your not using mana casting a shitty DS on a pet.

As for other pets it just depends. Water is best in a group thats fighting no casters. Air for casters. Earth if you have no CC and need a tank.

I understand and agree with you 100%. I just finished my Torch quest and am using it with a level 16 Fire pet. The DS is absolutely a game changer. The extra HP is nice as well.

I WANT TO MAKE THIS CLEAR ABOUT FOCUS ITEMS!!! They DO NOT give you a better chance at summoning a highest level pet. If they change that variable, then I am the most unlucky person in the game. Out of ~50 pet casts I've seen about 5 or so that are actually the highest level pet. I've experienced I think WORSE summoning highest level pet chance with the focus items. Again, I could be absolutely unlucky.

I agree with Beldon and webrunner. I summon a pet and keep it around forever if possible. It takes too much time and effort to keep summoning pets.
