This is a problem that happens to me frequently on a terrible internet connection in Asia. Here is a debug log of me logging into feerrott, then hammering off of a mob. The client never finished zoning just froze at the screen of my hammer proccing:

The following is a log of me attempting to log in from char select. The client gets a full loading bar, then just sits at the char select with loading bar full (I have loading screen art set to off)

I had the same problem, but it was always when I had Netflix running in the backround. When I play without Netflix I never have the black server screen or zone load freezes. not sure if that harlps.

I was talking to a guildy the other day about this and he claimed it had something to do with the RAM "bottoming out". He said that when you zone into a zone the EQ client loads up all the memory but when you zone out of the zone it doesn't clear that memory out properly (or something like that). So after awhile of going through different zones the client ends up freezing because it can't load anymore memory.

Told me to restart my computer and try again. Sure enough, after a restart the problem does go away, but depending on how much you zone determines how long until you have to restart your computer again. If I am porting a lot it only takes a couple of hours before I have to reboot everything.

Really wish this wasn't an issue at all though.
I will try this and see, I do porting as well so I guess it could be something like this.

I have been having this problem, it has gotten WAY worse this past week. I have tried resetting my modem/router, disabling and enabling my wireless card through my OS. For a while, it seemed like just resetting the modem/router "fixed" things, but yes this past week it has been pretty bad. I can get into the game usually, it is just when I zone that the problem occurs. If the server select screen is black, I just hit Esc and login again and the servers usually show up always. I guess if I don't come back to complain more, maybe just restarting my computer is the solution for now, until something better can be found.

Well. It seemed to work. I restarted, then for probably 5 zones in a row, there was no linkdeath. But, then it started happening again. And like other people, it seems to happen when the server is at peak hours, not before.

How old is your computer Frudrura? I was playing on a 2009ish second hand laptop up until last year and never had a ram problem, and it wasn't by any means a gaming laptop.

Have you disabled everything before playing? Tried turning off things like your firewall? Definitely try a wired connection if you can, that's the best bit of advice I can give to anyone who's struggling with connectivity issues.

I'd guess that zoning into a populated zone like EC would make it worse/more likely to crash?

It is relatively new, i5 4670k, windows 8.1, 8gb ram. I am on a wireless connection though. My Dad might help me get a wired connection to my room soon so maybe that will clear things up. Just did some optimization using inSSIDer to find best channel for my router to use. I am not sure if this will help, but you are right the wired connection is probably the best thing to use.

Having same issue. Last night I was in Kurns tower and had to quickly zone out to not die, when zoning back in it was stuck on the loading screen. Had to re-open eqgame.

That happens to me too! 9/10 times I crash out when I camp. I play on a Windows 8.1 laptop and sometimes on my Windows 7 desktop. Both using WinEQ2 newest version. Both computers have the new i5 and i7 processors with decent graphics cards.

The interesting part is, They said they may have fixed the issue last server patch, ironically i had all last weekend off and i played all day Saturday and Sunday with not one single zone crash ect. server select was good ect. Starting this past Monday 15-JUNE-15 I started crashing again, i log on around 8pm EST time. almost every time i zone, no matter the zone i freeze, group tells me i go LD because i am in Vent so they can tell me that, so i close out re log, no server select...get in past server, no characters found and or spell list out of date, after a few times trying i am in...zone just fine then die and freeze while coming back to bind point.

Now i played all this week because i am fool and love this game so much i tried to "let it go" like frozen, but its has been the most annoying week of my EQ P99 life, crash after crash while zoning, no log on servers ect. I has a sad, but I am at a loss on what to do. I have two different clients ( drag and drop folder version, and ISO version ) and three machines, laptops also all do the same thing, i also can log in from work and it happens so i do not think its something with my set up or home internet.

END RANT.
