Why is Blue99 player's so many better then Red99 player?

I and others are willing to put in the effort to get most of our own gear by camping...but not a server that's 6+ years old. I think the only hope it to let people start on a fresh server every 4 years or so. eventually, the pop might get to a point where there is an economy and competitive raid scene.

imagine camping in various locations with friends, acquiring and turning your time into liquid platinum pieces, then being able to flex that cash into the right piece, so that you don't necessarily have to camp everything you want!!! omg same amount of effort

Sorry I don't know where you're getting this from. Most people camping items on blue are doing it by themselves, not as they level, and with the only intent of bolstering their bank balance so they can twink a monk or shaman who then goes on to do more soloing because he's bought his way out of needing a group.

If red had the pop blue did it would be crazy competitive. I still think red has a chance if there is a new server that dumps into it one day (I'm not sure if this is only planned to happen for blue at this point). A few issues with red:

1) Economy sucks...not enough noob gear available. Honestly I don't even know how trading works on that server if you can kill someone and take their coin.

2) The server had item loot to start with...wtf? It was always a sliver of a minority that liked item loot, no matter how vocal they are on these forums. It's an antiquated system that doesn't work for a game like EQ. In other words, this server got off to the wrong start.

3) You can't beat them, you have to join them. I remember Crazycloud smoking PoT geared characters with 200 more AAs then him with his VT geared ranger. I really don't think before this era, however, that is really as viable. Maybe with casters...but not melee.

A new server that dumped into red 1999 eventually might fix these problems.
